Testing

Specific to:

Nissan 350Z 2007-2008

Nissan Maxima 2007-2008

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
  2.
  3. Disconnect ignition coil harness connector.
  4.
  5. Check resistance between ignition coil terminals. Terminals 1 and 2 except zero, or infinity ohms. Terminals 1 and 3 except zero ohms. Terminals 2 and 3 except zero ohms.
  6.
  7. If NG, replace ignition coil with power transistor.
  8.
  9. Turn ignition switch OFF.
  10.
  11. Reconnect all harness connectors disconnected.
  12.
  13. Remove fuel pump fuse located in IPDM E/R to release fuel pressure.
  14.
  15. Start engine.
  16.
  17. After engine stalls, crank it two or three times to release all fuel pressure.
  18.
  19. Turn ignition switch OFF.
  20.
  21. Remove all ignition coil harness connectors to avoid the electrical discharge from the ignition coils.
  22.
  23. Remove ignition coil and spark plug of the cylinder to be checked.
  24.
  25. Crank engine for 5 seconds or more to remove combustion gas in the cylinder.
  26.
  27. Connect spark plug and harness connector to ignition coil.
  28.
  29. Fix ignition coil using a rope etc. with gap of 13-17 mm between the edge of the spark plug and grounded metal portion.
  30.
  31. Crank engine for about 3 seconds, and check whether spark is generated between the spark plug and the grounded metal portion. Spark should be generated.
  32.
  33. If NG, replace ignition coil with power transistor.
