Power Door Locks



Diagnosis & Testing

If all door locks are inoperative, inspect the following:



Wiring, connectors and circuitry
 
Smart junction box
 

If all door locks are inoperative from one switch, inspect the following:



Door lock control switches
 
Wiring, connectors and circuitry
 
Smart junction box
 

If a single door lock is inoperative, inspect the following:



Door lock actuators
 
Wiring, connectors and circuitry
 
Smart junction box
 

If door locks only operate one way, inspect the following:



Wiring, connectors and circuitry
 
Smart junction box
 

If the doors do not lock/unlock using the remote transmitter, inspect the following:



Remote transmitter battery
 
Remote transmitter
 
Remote transmitter programming
 
Aftermarket systems
 
High power devices
 
TV/radio transmission towers
 
Smart junction box
 

Removal & Installation
Door Lock Cylinder

NOTE
Individual lock cylinders are repaired by discarding the inoperative cylinder and building a new lock cylinder using the appropriate lock repair package. The lock repair package includes a detailed instruction sheet to build the new lock cylinder to the current key code of the vehicle.


NOTE
Make sure the window glass is in the raised position.

  1. Remove the exterior door latch.
  2.  
  3. Release the clips and remove the lock cylinder.
  4.  
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  6.  

Door Lock Switch

The door lock cylinder switch is an internal part of the door latch.

  1. Remove the door trim panel and watershield.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the rods from the handle and lock cylinder, and from the remote control assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove the latch assembly attaching screws and remove the latch from the door.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  8.  

Door Lock Cylinder (Side Doors And Tailgate)
  1. Open the window.
  2.  
  3. Remove the trim panel and watershield.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the actuating rod from the lock control link clip.
  6.  
  7. Slide the retainer away from the lock cylinder.
  8.  
  9. Remove the cylinder from the door.
  10.  
  11. Use a new gasket when installing to ensure a watertight fit.
  12.  
  13. Lubricate the cylinder with suitable oil recommended for this application.
