Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Self-Test)

Possible Causes:



Charging system problem (check alternator for AC leakage)
 
Ignition system component has failed (i.e., check for signs of primary or secondary voltage leaking from the coil, coil wire, spark plug wires or boots, or the spark plug insulators
 
PCM has failed

Idle Air Control Solenoid Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



IAC solenoid control circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
IAC solenoid power circuit is open between the valve and PCM

Idle Air Control System RPM Higher Than Expected

Possible Causes:



EGR valve is stuck open or leaking, or the gasket is leaking
 
EVAP purge valve is leaking or stuck in open position
 
IAC solenoid control circuit is shorted to ground (intermittent)
 
IAC valve is stuck open (it may be dirty or have failed)
 
PCV valve is leaking, or a leak in the intake manifold exists
 
PCM has failed

Air filter element is severely restricted, or air inlet is plugged
 
Base engine problems: cylinder compression or valve timing

Throttle body is dirty, damaged or contaminated
 
PCM has failed

VTCS actuator control circuit is shorted to ground

An "unregistered" key was used during Step 3 of the Immobilizer Unit replacement procedure

Possible Causes:



Perform a PCM "reset" procedure - if the same trouble code resets, the PCM has failed

Perform a PCM "reset" procedure
 
Attempt to start the engine three (3) times
