Accessory Drive Belts 2

Removal & Installation



Refer to the illustration for component location.

  1. Loosen mounting bolts A and nut B.
  2.  
  3. Loosen the belt tension by turning the adjusting bolt C.
  4.  
  5. Remove the belt.
  6.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.

  1. Loosen mounting bolts A, B and nut C.
  2.  
  3. Remove the belt.
  4.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2.  
  3. Tighten mounting bolts A, B and nut C.
  4.  
  5. Adjust the belt deflection or tension by turning the adjusting bolt D.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove/Install the A/C belt as follows:
    1. Remove the right side engine under cover and splash shield.
    2.  
    3. Cut the A/C drive belt using scissors.
    4.  

  4.  
  5. Install a jig which comes with the new belt to the crankshaft pulley as shown in the illustration.

    1. Install a new A/C drive belt to the A/C compressor pulley, move jig (A) upward, and then install the A/C drive belt to the crankshaft pulley.

    3. Install jig (B) to the A/C compressor mount as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE
      The A/C drive belt cannot be reused. The jig is prepackaged with a new A/C drive belt. Do not pass jig (B) through the A/C compressor mount hole.

    5. Rotate the crankshaft pulley to the right using a wrench and install the A/C drive belt.
    6.  
    7. Install the under cover and splash shield (RH).
    8.

  7. Remove/Install the alternator belt as follows:
    1. Remove the plug hole plate by lifting off and removing the plug hole plate from the areas shown in the accompanying illustration.

    3. Remove the A/C drive belt.
    4.  
    5. Turn the center of the auto tensioner pulley counterclockwise to release tension to the drive belt tension.
    6.  
    7. Remove the alternator drive belt.
    8.  
    9. Install a new alternator drive belt.
    10.  
    11. Install the A/C drive belt.
    12.  
    13. Install the plug hole plate.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.

  3. Remove the splash shield.
  4.  
  5. Rotate the drive belt auto tensioner and remove the drive belt.
  6.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2.  

  1. Rotate the drive belt auto tensioner and remove the drive belt.
  2.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2.  

1.6L (Zm) Engine

Refer to the illustration for component location.

  1. Loosen mounting bolts A, B and C.
  2.  
  3. Loosen the adjusting bolt D and remove the belt.
  4.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2.  
  3. Tighten mounting bolts A, B and C.

2.0L (Fs) Engine

Refer to the illustration for component location.

  1. Loosen mounting bolt A and B.
  2.  
  3. Loosen the adjusting bolt C and remove the belt.
  4.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2.  
  3. Adjust the belt deflection or tension by turning the adjusting bolt C.
  4.  
  5. Tighten mounting bolt A and B.

2.5L (Kl) Engine

Refer to the illustration for component location.

  1. Loosen locknut A.
  2.  
  3. Loosen the belt tension by turning the adjusting bolt B.
  4.  
  5. Remove the belt.
  6.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the under cover and splash shield (RH).
  4.  
  5. Place a breaker bar on the center of the front drive belt auto tensioner and turn the center of the front drive belt auto tensioner pulley counterclockwise to release tension to the drive belt.
  6.  
  7. Remove the front drive belt.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
