Fuel Pressure Regulator

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Release the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Unplug the vacuum hose.
  8.  
  9. Unfasten the bolts and remove the pressure regulator.

To install:

  1. Install the fuel pressure regulator using a new O-ring.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the regulator bolts to the specifications shown in the illustration and connect the vacuum hose.
  4.  
  5. Start the vehicle and check for leaks.
  6.  

The fuel pressure regulator is an integral part of the fuel pump assembly. If the regulator is found to be defective, replace the fuel pump assembly as the pump cannot be disassembled. If the fuel pressure exceeds 53-61 psi (370-420 kPa) the regulator is defective. If the pressure is below this specification, the pump is defective.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.

  3. Release the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Unplug the vacuum hose.
  8.  
  9. Unfasten the bolts and remove the pressure regulator.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Install the fuel pressure regulator using a new O-ring.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the regulator bolts to 69.5-95.4 in. lbs. (8-10 Nm)..
  4.  
  5. Start the vehicle and check for leaks.
  6.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.

  3. Release the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Unplug the vacuum hose.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the plastic fuel hose.
  10.  
  11. Unfasten the bolts and remove the pressure regulator.

To install:

  1. Install the fuel pressure regulator using a new O-ring.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the regulator bolts to the specifications shown in the illustration and connect the vacuum hose.

If the fuel pressure exceeds 50.8-59.4 psi (350-410 kPa) the regulator is defective. If the pressure is below this specification, the pump is defective.

2.3L (L3) Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.

The fuel pressure regulator is an integral part of the fuel pump assembly. If the regulator is found to be defective, replace the fuel pump assembly as the pump cannot be disassembled. If the fuel pressure exceeds 50.8-59.4 psi (350-410 kPa) the regulator is defective. If the pressure is below this specification, the pump is defective.

3.0L (Aj) Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  

The fuel pressure regulator is an integral part of the fuel pump assembly. If the regulator is found to be defective, replace the fuel pump assembly as the pump cannot be disassembled. If the fuel pressure exceeds 63-73 psi (430-510 kPa) the regulator is defective. If the pressure is below this specification, the pump is defective.
