Diagnosis & Testing
Mazda6 And Mazdaspeed6
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Apply ground to terminal F and battery voltage to terminal E, the window should open. If not replace the motor.
  4.  
  5. Apply ground to terminal F and battery voltage to terminal F, the window should close. If not replace the motor.

MX-5 Miata
  1. Apply ground to terminal G and battery voltage to terminal A, the window should open. If not replace the motor.
  2.  
  3. Apply ground to terminal A and battery voltage to terminal G, the window should close. If not replace the motor.

Removal & Installation
Motor & Regulator
Mazda6 And Mazdaspeed6
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Open the front door glass so that the distance from the top of the front door glass to the upper part of the front beltline molding is 8.3 inch (210mm).
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Open the inner handle cap using a small screwdriver, then remove the screw.
  8.  
  9. Remove the inner handle cover.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the door lock switch connector.
  12.  
  13. Remove the inner garnish.
  14.  
  15. Remove the cover, then remove the screw.
  16.  
  17. Remove the lens cover, then remove screw.
  18.  
  19. Disengage the clips from the front door using a fastener remover.
  20.  
  21. Pull the front door trim upward, then disengage the tabs from the front door.
  22.  
  23. Disconnect the power door mirror switch connector and the power window main switch connector.
  24.  
  25. Remove the courtesy light.
  26.  
  27. Remove the front door trim.
  28.  
  29. Remove the switch panel from the front door trim
  30.  
  31. Remove the hole cover.
  32.  
  33. Remove the screws.
  34.  
  35. Lift out the front door glass.
  36.  
  37. Remove the front door speaker.
  38.  
  39. Disconnect the power window motor connector, front door lock actuator connector, and the power outside mirror connector.
  40.  
  41. Remove the front door harness from the front door unit.
  42.  
  43. Remove screws
  44.  
  45. Remove the front door actuator tab from the front door unit.
  46.  
  47. Pull the front door unit slightly outward, and while keeping the power window regulator from
  48.  
  49. catching on the front door, remove the front door unit from the front door.
  50.  
  51. Pull out the inner handle cable and door lock knob cable from the hole.
  52.  
  53. Remove the power window motor and power window regulator from the front door unit carrier.
  54.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.

MX-5 Miata
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Position the door glass so that the distance between the top of the front door glass and top of the front beltline molding is 4.33 inches (110 mm).
  4.  
  5. Remove the door trim.
  6.  
  7. Remove the door unit by unplugging the electrical connections, unfastening the screws and remove the unit.
  8.  
  9. Remove the door glass as follows:
    1. Remove the glass stopper.
    2.  
    3. Remove the nuts attaching door glass to regulator.
    4.  
    5. Lift the door glass up, then remove it while tilting it forward.

  11. Remove the nuts and the power window regulator.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal. Refer to the illustrations for component locations and torque values.

Switch
Mazda6 And Mazdaspeed6
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Open the inner handle cap using a small screwdriver, then remove the screw.
  6.  
  7. Remove the inner handle cover.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the door lock switch connector.
  10.  
  11. Remove the inner garnish.
  12.  
  13. Remove the cover, then remove the screw.
  14.  
  15. Remove the lens cover, then remove screw.
  16.  
  17. Disengage the clips from the front door using a fastener remover.
  18.  
  19. Pull the front door trim upward, then disengage the tabs from the front door.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the power door mirror switch connector and the power window main switch connector.
  22.  
  23. Remove the courtesy light.
  24.  
  25. Remove the front door trim.
  26.  
  27. Remove the screws and the switch.
  28.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2.  

MX-5 Miata
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the center console by removing the components as follows:
    1. Selector lever knob if equipped with an automatic transmission or the shift lever knob if equipped with a manual transmission.
    2.  
    3. Front cover.
    4.  
    5. Rear cover.
    6.  
    7. Hole cover.
    8.  
    9. Parking brake lever boot.
    10.  
    11. Parking brake lever boot plate.
    12.  
    13. Console.
    14.  
    15. Power window main switch connector.
    16.  
    17. Indicator compartment connector if equipped with an automatic transmission.
    18.

  5. Depress the tab and remove the power window switch.
  6.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Window Diagnosis & Testing

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Raise the rear edge of the door glass about 3.5 inches from the fully lowered position.
  4.  
  5. Remove the regulator handle if equipped with a manual window.
  6.  
  7. Remove the inner garnish.
  8.  
  9. Remove the screw to remove the inner handle.
  10.  
  11. Turn over the recess cover to remove the screw.
  12.  
  13. Remove the screw.
  14.  
  15. Remove the fasteners.
  16.  
  17. Pull the front door trim to disengage clips from the body.
  18.  
  19. Pull the front door trim upward to disengage hooks B from the body.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the trunk lid opener switch connector.
  22.  
  23. Disconnect the connector if equipped with a power window.
  24.  
  25. Disconnect the courtesy light.
  26.  
  27. Inspect for the continuity between the power window main switch terminals by using an ohmmeter.
  28.  
  29. When checking the driver-s side window switch, connect the B+ to terminal H and connect the ground to the terminal F. If the switch fails a test replace the switch.
  30.  
  31. Refer to the accompanying illustrations for terminal locations and continuity checks.

Mazda 3
  1. Apply battery positive voltage and connect ground to power window motor terminals E and F, and then inspect the power window motor operation.
  2.  
  3. On the front window switch, apply ground to terminal F and battery voltage to terminal E, the window should open.
  4.  
  5. On the front window switch, apply ground to terminal E and battery voltage to terminal F, the window should close.
  6.  
  7. On the rear window switch, apply ground to terminal E and battery voltage to terminal F, the window should open.
  8.  
  9. On the rear window switch, apply ground to terminal F and battery voltage to terminal E, the window should close.

  10.  

Mazda 6
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Apply ground to terminal F and battery voltage to terminal E, the window should open. If not replace the motor.
  4.  
  5. Apply ground to terminal F and battery voltage to terminal F, the window should close. If not replace the motor.

Miata
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Apply ground to motor terminal B and battery voltage to terminal A, the window should open.
  4.  
  5. Apply ground to motor terminal A and battery voltage to terminal B, the window should close.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Apply ground to motor terminal B and battery voltage to terminal A, the window should open.
  4.  
  5. Apply ground to motor terminal A and battery voltage to terminal B, the window should close.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Apply ground to motor terminal B and battery voltage to terminal A, the window should open.
  4.  
  5. Apply ground to motor terminal A and battery voltage to terminal B, the window should close.
