Overhaul (Coil Spring Removal & Installation)
Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
NOTERefer the exploded view illustration for component locations and if applicable, their retainer torque specifications.
CAUTIONRemoving or installing the shock absorber and coil spring is dangerous. The shock absorber and coil spring could fly off and cause serious injury or death, and damage the vehicle.
Remove the rear shock absorber and coil spring.
WARNINGBefore removing the piston rod nut, secure the shock absorber and spring in a suitable spring compressor. Otherwise, the shock absorber and spring could fly off under tremendous pressure and cause serious injury or death, or damage to vehicle parts.
- Protect the coil spring from scratches using a piece of cloth and install the spring compressor.
- Compress the coil spring and remove the piston rod nut.
Remove the following:
Install the following:
Shock absorber so that the lower end of the coil spring is seated on the step of the lower spring seat
- Install the piston rod nut and tighten to 38-46 Nm (28-34 ft. lbs.).
- Install the strut assembly.
