Lower Control Arms

Bushing Replacement



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the control arm from the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Mark the control arm to indicate the alignment of the rear bushing as shown.
  6.  
  7. Remove the control arm bushings with a hydraulic press.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Lubricate the control arm bushings with liquid soap.
  2.  
  3. If replacing the rear bushing, align the direction marks as shown.
  4.  
  5. Press the bushings into the control arm until the bushing flange contacts the housing edge of the control arm.
  6.  
  7. Install the control arm to the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Check the wheel alignment and adjust as necessary.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.

  3. Remove the control arm from the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Mark the control arm to indicate the alignment of the rear bushing as shown.
  6.  
  7. Remove the control arm bushings with a hydraulic press.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Lubricate the control arm bushings with liquid soap.
  2.  
  3. If replacing the rear bushing, align the direction marks as shown.

  5. Press the bushings into the control arm until the bushing flange contacts the housing edge of the control arm.
  6.  
  7. Install the control arm to the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Check the wheel alignment and adjust as necessary.

  3. Remove the control arm from the vehicle.

  5. Mark the control arm to indicate the alignment of the rear bushing as shown.

  7. Remove the control arm bushings with a hydraulic press.

To install:

  1. Lubricate the control arm bushings with liquid soap.

  3. If replacing the rear bushing, align the direction marks as shown.

  5. Press the bushings into the control arm until the bushing flange contacts the housing edge of the control arm.

  7. Install the control arm to the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Check the wheel alignment and adjust as necessary.

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Support the arm.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Front wheel
     
    Lower ball joint
     
    Front inner control arm bolt
     
    Rear inner control arm bracket
     
    Lower control arm
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Lower control arm. Tighten the front inner bolt to 69-93 ft. lbs. (94-126 Nm).
     
    Rear inner control arm bracket. Tighten the nut to 69-97 ft. lbs. (94-131 Nm).
     
    Lower ball joint. Tighten the pinch bolt to 32-43 ft. lbs. (44-58 Nm).
     
    Front wheel
     

  2.  
  3. Check the wheel alignment and adjust as necessary.
  4.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Support the arm.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Front wheel
     
    Pivot bolt
     
    Dynamic damper
     
    Ball joint bolt
     
    Ball joint bracket
     
    Nut
     
    Lower arm
     

  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Observe the following torques:

    Nut: 76-97 ft. lbs. (103-131 Nm)
     
    Bracket bolt: 32-43 ft. lbs. (43-59 Nm)
     
    Pivot bolt: 74-101 ft. lbs. (101-137 Nm)

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Front wheel
     
    Lower ball joint
     
    Front inner control arm bolt
     
    Rear inner control arm bracket
     
    Lower control arm
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Lower control arm. Tighten the front inner bolt to 69-93 ft. lbs. (94-126 Nm).
     
    Rear inner control arm bracket. Tighten the nut to 69-97 ft. lbs. (94-131 Nm).
     
    Lower ball joint. Tighten the pinch bolt to 32-43 ft. lbs. (44-58 Nm).
     
    Front wheel

  3. Check the wheel alignment and adjust as necessary.
  4.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Support the arm.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Front wheel
     
    Pivot bolt
     
    Dynamic damper
     
    Ball joint bolt
     
    Ball joint bracket
     
    Nut
     
    Lower arm
     

  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Observe the following torques:

    Nut: 76-97 ft. lbs. (103-131 Nm)
     
    Bracket bolt: 32-43 ft. lbs. (43-59 Nm)
     
    Pivot bolt: 74-101 ft. lbs. (101-137 Nm)
