Brake Caliper

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the rear of the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the wheel(s).
  6.  
  7. If the caliper is being replaced or repaired, disconnect and plug the brake hose at the caliper.
  8.  
  9. Remove the caliper pins and lift off the caliper.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the caliper pins to 28-36 ft. lbs. (37-49 Nm).
  12.  

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
  2.  
  3. Remove the banjo bolt and disconnect the brake hose from the caliper. Plug the hose to prevent fluid leakage.
  4.  
  5. Remove the caliper mounting bolt and pivot the caliper about the mounting pin and off the brake rotor. Remove the caliper from the pin.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Lubricate the caliper mounting bolts or bolt and pin prior to installation.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the caliper mounting bolt(s) to 61-69 ft. lbs. (83-93 Nm)
  10.  
  11. Bleed the brake system.

  11. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the caliper bolts to 16-23 ft. lbs. (21-31 Nm).
