Diagnosis & Testing
Motor
  1. Measure the voltage at each terminal (other than terminal D) and compare with the chart. If not as specified, inspect the parts listed under -Inspection item- and the related wiring harnesses.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Verify that continuity at terminal D is as indicated in the Terminal Voltage Table (Reference).
  6.  
  7. If the parts and wiring harnesses are okay but the system still does not work properly, replace the sunroof relay.

Switch
  1. Verify that the continuity between the sunroof switch is as indicated in the accompanying chart. If not as specified, replace the sunroof switch.

Removal & Installation
Motor
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the roof side trim, as follows:
    1. Partially peel back the seaming welt.
    2.  
    3. Pull the roof side trim outward, detach clips A, and then remove the roof side trim.

  5. Remove the A-pillar trim, as follows:
    1. Partially peel back the seaming welt.
    2.  
    3. Detach clips A using a fastener remover.

    5. Pull the A-pillar trim and detach clip B (1).
    6.  
    7. Pull the A-pillar trim upward and remove clip B from the A-pillar trim (2).
    8.  
    9. Pull clip B out and rotate it 45°.
    10.  
    11. Remove clip B from the grommet by pulling it upward.

  7. Remove the rear seat, as follows:
    1. Lift the point A in the direction of the arrow, then remove the rear seat cushion.

    3. Remove the bolts, then remove the rear seat back.

  9. Pull the inner scuff plate upward, detach clips A from the body, and then remove the inner scuff plate.

  11. Remove the tire house trim, as follows:
    1. Partially peel back the seaming welt.
    2.  
    3. Pull the tire house trim outward and detach clips A and locator pins B.
    4.  
    5. Detach tabs C and remove the tire house trim.

  13. Remove the rear pillar trim, as follows:
    1. On vehicles with side curtain airbags, remove the cap using a fastener remover.
    2.  
    3. On vehicles with side curtain airbags, remove the bolt.
    4.  
    5. Remove the fastener.
    6.  
    7. Detach clips A and locator pin B, using a fastener remover, and remove the rear pillar trim.

  15. Remove the map light, as follows:
    1. Remove the screws.
    2.  
    3. Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the gap between the headliner and the map light.
    4.  
    5. Press the tab, and remove the map light.

    7. Disconnect the connector.
    8.  
    9. Remove the socket, then remove the map light bulb.

  17. Remove the interior light, as follows:
    1. Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the service hole and pry with the screwdriver in the direction shown by the arrow to remove the lens.

    3. Remove the interior light bulb.
    4.  
    5. Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the gap between the headliner and the interior light.
    6.  
    7. Press the tab, and remove the interior light.

    9. Disconnect the connector.

  19. Remove the sun visor, as follows:
    1. Remove the screws.

    3. Disconnect the vanity mirror illumination connector.
    4.  
    5. Remove the sun visor.
    6.  
    7. Press the center adapter tabs in the directions of the arrows using two tape-wrapped flathead screwdrivers and remove it.

  21. Remove the assist handle, as follows:
    1. Insert a flathead screwdriver into the assist handle notch and remove the assist handle cover.
    2.  
    3. Pull the assist handle outward and remove it.
    4.

  23. Remove the headliner, as follows:
    1. Disconnect the roof wiring harness connector and remove the roof wiring harness connector clip from the body.
    2.  
    3. Remove the fasteners.
    4.  
    5. Detach the tab from the roof panel and remove the headliner.
    6.  
    7. Remove the headliner from the vehicle through the opened passenger-side door.

  25. Disconnect the sunroof motor connector.
  26.  
  27. Remove the screws, then remove the sunroof motor.
  28.  
  29. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
    NOTE
    If the glass panel or the sunroof motor is moved with the sunroof motor removed, initial position setting of the sunroof motor will be required.

  31. If the guide is removed, initial position setting of the sunroof motor will be required. After installing the sunroof unit, perform initial position setting using the following procedure.
    1. Press the CLOSE switch to fully close the glass panel.
    2.  
    3. When the glass panel reaches the fully closed position, temporarily release the CLOSE switch and press it again for approx. 13 s continuously. Continue pressing the switch until the glass panel automatically stops at the fully closed position after reaching the mechanical lock position.
    4.  
    5. When the glass panel stops at the fully closed position, temporarily release the CLOSE switch, then press it again within 5 s and hold.
      NOTE
      Press the CLOSE switch continuously until the glass panel opens to the fully open position, returns to the fully closed position and then stops.

    6.  
    7. Release the CLOSE switch when the glass panel stops at the fully closed position.
    8.

NOTE
The sunroof switch and the map light are integrated as a single unit.

  1. Remove the screws securing the map light into the headliner.
  2.  
  3. Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the gap between the headliner and the map light.
  4.  
  5. Press the tab, and remove the map light.

    1. Disconnect the connector.
