Wheel Bearings



The front wheel bearings are not adjustable. If the bearings become loose or make noise, they must be replaced.

Removal & Installation

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  3. Refer to the illustration for component location and torque specifications.
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    ABS wheel speed sensor
    Brake caliper and rotor
    Tie rod end from the knuckle
    Stabilizer bar link
    Upper control arm ball joint from the knuckle
    Upper arm bolt
    Lower ball joint
    Wheel hub and knuckle assembly
    Separate the knuckle from the wheel hub and remove the backing plate.

  7. Clean and inspect all parts but do not wash or clean the wheel bearing. The wheel hub/bearing must be replaced.

To install:

Install the backing plate to the hub, then install the knuckle to the hub and tighten the bolts to 40-44 ft. lbs. (54-60 Nm).
Lower ball joint
Upper arm bolt and tighten to 62-72 ft. lbs. (84-96 Nm).
Upper control arm ball joint
Stabilizer bar link and tighten to 32-45 ft. lbs. (43-61 Nm).
Tie rod end
ABS wheel speed sensor
Brake caliper and rotor
