REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION



2.2L Engine

  1. Disconnect the negative battery.
  2.  
  3. Remove the cooling fan.
  4.  
  5. Remove the cooling fan shroud.
  6.  
  7. Remove the drive belts.
  8.  
  9. Remove the cooling fan pulley and bracket.
  10.  
  11. If carbureted, remove the secondary air pipe assembly.
  12.  
  13. Unbolt the crankshaft pulley and remove the upper and lower timing belt covers.
  14.  
  15. Installation is the reverse of removal.

3.0L Engine

See Figures 2 through 7

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable, and drain the cooling system.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine coolant.
  4.  
  5. Remove the air cleaner duct assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the cooling fan and radiator shroud.
  8.  
  9. Remove the accessory drive belt.
  10.  
  11. Remove the A/C compressor idler pulley.
  12.  
  13. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
  14.  
  15. Remove the coolant bypass and upper radiator hoses.
  16.  
  17. Remove the timing belt covers.
  18.
