REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Navajo and B Series Pick-up-Rear Wheel Drive

  1. Raise and support the front end on jackstands.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheels.
  4.  
  5. Remove the caliper, rotor and hub.
  6.  
  7. Using a 3-jawed puller, remove the ring from the hub. The ring cannot be reused; it must be replaced.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Support the hub in a press so that the lug studs do not rest on the work surface.
  2.  
  3. Position the new sensor ring on the hub. Using a cylindrical adapter 98mm ID X 106mm OD, press the ring into place. The ring must be fully seated!
  4.  
  5. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.
  6.  

Navajo and B Series Pick-up-4WD

The front speed sensor ring is an integral component of the wheel hub/bearing assembly. If the speed sensor ring requires service for any reason, the wheel hub/bearing assembly must be replaced.

MPV-Rear Wheel Drive

See Figures 2 and 3

The speed sensor ring must never be removed unless it is being replaced.

  1. Remove the wheel hub/bearing assembly.
  2.  
  3. Mount the wheel hub/bearing assembly securely in a bench vise.
  4.  
  5. Using a hammer and chisel, remove the speed sensor ring.
  6.

To install:
  1. Place the wheel hub/bearing assembly facing down between two blocks of wood as illustrated.
  2.

  1. Using special press tool 49-L033-103, or equivalent, press the speed sensor ring on until it is flush with the wheel hub.
  2.  
  3. Install the wheel hub/bearing assembly onto the vehicle.
  4.  

MPV-4WD

See Figures 4 and 5

The speed sensor ring must never be removed unless it is being replaced.

  1. Remove the front axle shaft assembly.
  2.  
  3. Mount the front axle shaft assembly firmly in a bench vise.
  4.  
  5. Using a hammer and chisel, remove the speed sensor ring.
  6.

To install:
  1. Set a new speed sensor ring onto the axle shaft assembly in the direction illustrated.
  2.

  1. Using special press tool 49-G025-001, or equivalent, press the speed sensor ring onto the axle shaft assembly.

  3. Install the front axle shaft assembly onto the vehicle.
