Body Lubrication

Print

Whenever you take care of chassis greasing it is also advised that you walk around the vehicle and give attention to a number of other surfaces which require a variety of lubrication/protection.

HOOD/DOOR LATCH & HINGES

Wipe clean any exposed surfaces of the door hatches and hinges, hood latch and auxiliary catch. Then, treat the surfaces using an NLGI No. 2 Lithium based, or equivalent, multi-purpose grease.

LOCK CYLINDERS

Should be treated with a non-freezing lubricant during cold weather. Consult your local parts supplier for equivalent lubricants.

DOOR WEATHERSTRIPPING

Spray the door weatherstripping using a silicone lubricant to help pressure the rubber.

TAILGATE

Spray a silicone lubricant on all of the pivot and friction surfaces to eliminate any squeaks or binds. Work the tailgate to distribute the lubricant.

BODY DRAIN HOLES

Be sure that the drain holes in the doors and rocker panels are cleared of obstruction. A small screwdriver can be used to clear them of any debris.
