Clockspring Centering Procedure
If the clockspring is not equipped with set screws and it has been twisted while removed, the clockspring will need to be replaced. If in doubt, replace it! On models 2004 and later, it must be replaced if twisted while removed.
Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
Tighten the mounting screws (32h) completely into the horn and airbag clockspring contact (A45).
Rotate the clockspring contact (A45) counterclockwise until a slight resistance is noticeable (clockspring contact is rolled up completely).
Rotate the clockspring contact approximately 3 to 3.5 revolutions clockwise, until the mounting screws (32h) can be unscrewed again through the openings and fix the clockspring contact (A45) in position.
The entire rotation range of the clockspring contact is approximately 6 to 7 revolutions.
