Injection Timing

Fig. Remove the screw plug and install the injection timing position sensor

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the screw plug from the side of the injection pump governor housing.
  4.  
  5. Install a position sensor into the hole and connect the tester to the vehicle battery and position sensor.
  6.  
  7. Turn the crankshaft by hand until lampsAB
  8.  
  9. Loosen the injection pump and turn the adjusting screw until the timing pointer is at 15 degrees After Top Dead Center (ATDC) and both lamps are ON.
  10.  
  11. Install the oil and plug. Torque the plug to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).

  3. Remove the screw plug from the side of the injection pump governor housing.
  4.  
  5. Install a position sensor into the hole and connect the tester to the vehicle battery and position sensor.
  6.  
  7. Turn the crankshaft by hand until lamps A and B on the tester light simultaneously. Take the reading on the crankshaft pulley.
  8.  
  9. Loosen the injection pump and turn the adjusting screw until the timing pointer is at 15 degrees after TDC and both lamps are ON.
  10.  
  11. Install the oil and plug. Torque the plug to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
