Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Torsion bar brackets
     
    Spring swiveling lever and mounting plate, if equipped
     
    Torsion bar
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Torsion bar and brackets with new bushings. Torque the bracket bolts as follows:
     
    Control arm bracket self- locking nuts: 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm)
     
    Top spring swiveling lever bracket self-locking nuts: 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm)
     
    Bottom spring swiveling lever bracket self-locking nuts: 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm)
     
    Torsion bar-to-frame bracket self-locking bolts: 44 ft. lbs. (60 Nm)
     

  2.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Engine undercover
     
    Bracket from control arm
     
    Mounting bracket (21b)
     
    Torsion bar
     

  4.

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Torsion bar
     
    Torque the bracket bolts as follows:
     
    Mounting bracket (21b): 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm)
     
    Control arm bracket: 50 ft. lbs. (68 Nm)
     
    Engine undercover
     

  2.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Torsion bar brackets
     
    Spring swiveling lever and mounting plate if equipped
     
    Torsion bar
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Torsion bar and brackets with new bushings. Torque the bracket bolts as follows:
     
    Control arm bracket self- locking nuts: 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm)
     
    Top spring swiveling lever bracket self-locking nuts: 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm)
     
    Bottom spring swiveling lever bracket self-locking nuts: 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm)
     
    Torsion bar-to-frame bracket self-locking bolts: 44 ft. lbs. (60 Nm)

  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Torsion bar brackets
     
    Spring swiveling lever and mounting plate if equipped
     
    Torsion bar
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Torsion bar and brackets with new bushings. Torque the bracket bolts as follows:
     
    Control arm bracket self- locking nuts: 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm)
     
    Top spring swiveling lever bracket self-locking nuts: 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm)
     
    Bottom spring swiveling lever bracket self-locking nuts: 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm)
     
    Torsion bar-to-frame bracket self-locking bolts: 44 ft. lbs. (60 Nm)
