Mercedes-Benz Truck 2000-05

General Information

Some vehicles are equipped with an air bag system. The system must be disarmed before performing service on, or around, system components, the steering column, instrument panel components, wiring and sensors. Failure to follow the safety precautions and the disarming procedure could result in accidental air bag deployment, possible injury and unnecessary system repairs.

Clockspring Centering

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  3. Tighten the mounting screws (32h) completely into the horn and airbag clockspring contact (A45).
  5. Rotate the clockspring contact (A45) counterclockwise until a slight resistance is noticeable (clockspring contact is rolled up completely).
  7. Rotate the clockspring contact approximately 3 to 3.5 revolutions clockwise, until the mounting screws (32h) can be unscrewed again through the openings and fix the clockspring contact (A45) in position.
The entire rotation range of the clockspring contact is approximately 6 to 7 revolutions.
