Pinion Seal

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    NOTE
    Always matchmark the position of the driveshaft flange before removing it.



    Driveshaft
     

  4.  
  5. Using a torque wrench on the flange nut, measure the rotation torque reading. When reinstalling the flange, the nut must be tightened until the same rotation torque reading is reached.

To install:

  1. Coat the pinion seal lip clean hypoid gear oil.
  2.  
  3. Install or connect the following using new hardware:

    Pinion seal
     
    Drive flange
     
    New self-locking hexagon collar nut. The nut must be tightened until the same rotation torque reading measured during removal is reached.
     
    Driveshaft
