Disarming the System

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Turn the steering wheel so the wheels are pointing straight-ahead.
  4.  
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position and remove the key.
  6.  
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    AIR BAG-IG fuse from the junction block near the base of the steering column
     
    Steering wheel side cap, Connector Position Assurance (CPA) and yellow 2-way connector for the driver-s side Air Bag (inflator) module
     
    Glove box while pushing in on the stoppers from the left and the right sides. Disconnect the yellow connector for the passenger Air Bag (inflator) module.

NOTE
The center sensor assembly can maintain sufficient voltage to cause deployment for up to 2 minutes after the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position or the battery is disconnected.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Turn the steering wheel so the front wheels are in the straight-ahead position.
  4.  
  5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK .
  6.  
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Lower steering column trim cover
     
    IGN fuse and CIG and RADIO fuse from junction block 1
     
    Connector Position Assurance (CPA) and disconnect the yellow 2-way connector at the base of the steering column
     
    Inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector
     
    Glove box
     
    Unlock the passenger-s side module connector and disconnect the pigtail
     
    Unlock the left and right hand side seat module connectors and disconnect the seat modules
