Oil Pressure Sensor

Removal & Installation



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disengage the electrical connector from the oil pressure switch.
  4.  
  5. Remove the oil pressure switch from the engine block (1).
  6.  

To install:

  1. Install the oil pressure switch and tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (14 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Run the engine, and inspect the engine for oil leaks from the oil pressure switch.
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6.  

Testing



  1. Remove the oil pressure switch from the engine block.
  2.  
  3. Install a pressure gauge instead of the oil pressure switch.
  4.  
  5. Start the engine, and run the engine at idle until normal operating temperature is reached.
  6.  
  7. Raise the engine speed to 4000 RPM, and measure the oil pressure.
  8.  
  9. Normal Oil Pressure should read 330-430 kPa (47-61 psi) at 4000 RPM
  10.  
  11. If the oil pressure is below specification, replace the oil pressure switch.
  12.  
  13. Stop the engine.
  14.  
  15. Remove the pressure gauge.
  16.  
  17. Install the oil pressure switch.
  18.  
  19. Run the engine, and inspect the engine for oil leaks from the oil pressure switch.
