Fuel Pressure Regulator

Removal & Installation



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Remove the fuel sender assembly from the fuel tank.
  6.  
  7. Remove the fuel pressure regulator from the bottom of the fuel filter.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Install the fuel pressure regulator with a new O-ring into the fuel filter.
  2.  
  3. Install the fuel sender assembly into the fuel tank.
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6.  

1.3L Engine
  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the fuel-pressure regulator
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the fuel return hose from the fuel-pressure regulator.
  8.  
  9. Remove the 2 bolts from the fuel-pressure regulator to the fuel rail. Use a shop towel in order to catch any remaining fuel.
  10.  
  11. Remove the fuel-pressure regulator from the fuel rail.

To install:

  1. Apply a thin coat of oil to the new O-ring.
  2.  
  3. Install the new O-ring on the fuel-pressure regulator.
  4.  
  5. Install the fuel-pressure regulator to the fuel rail.
  6.  
  7. Secure the fuel-pressure regulator to the fuel rail with the 2 bolts and tighten them to 71-106 inch lbs. (8-12 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Connect the fuel return hose to the fuel-pressure regulator, and secure the hose with the clamp.
  10.  
  11. Connect the vacuum hose to the fuel-pressure regulator.
  12.  
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14.  
  15. Turn on the ignition in order to pressurize the fuel system.
  16.  
  17. Turn off the ignition.
  18.  
  19. Find and repair any fuel leaks as necessary.
  20.
