Lower Control Arms

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Coil spring
     
    Suspension arm front mounting bolts
     
    Suspension arm rear bolt
     
    Suspension arm from the vehicle
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Suspension arm to the vehicle
     
    Rear mounting bolt and torque it to 29 ft. lbs. (40 Nm)
     
    Front mounting bolts and torque them to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm)
     
    Coil spring
     

  2.  


NOTE
The rear suspension contains a front and rear control arm.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Both trailing arms from the suspension knuckles
     
    Both rear suspension rear control arms
     

  4.  
  5. Support the rear suspension crossmember.

    Suspension crossmember mounting bolts
     
    Both rear suspension front control arms from the crossmember
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Both rear suspension front control arms to the crossmember, do not tighten the bolts at this time
     
    Rear suspension crossmember and torque the outer bolts to 55 ft. lbs. (74 Nm) and the inner bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm)
     

  2.  
  3. Remove the crossmember support.

    Both rear suspension rear control arms, do not tighten the bolts at this time
     
    Both trailing arms to the suspension knuckles, do not tighten the bolts at this time
     

  4.  
  5. Bounce the rear of the vehicle several times to stabilize the suspension.
  6.  
  7. Torque the trailing arm bolts to 67 ft. lbs. (91 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Torque the front and rear control arm bolts to 89 ft. lbs. (125 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Measure the wheel alignment and adjust as necessary.
