Fig. Before installation, coat the threads of the sensor with a suitable sealant

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine coolant to a level below the intake manifold.
  4.  
  5. Unplug the sensor wiring harness.
  6.  
  7. Unthread and remove the sensor from the engine.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Coat the threads of the sensor with a suitable sealant and thread into the housing.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the sensor to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Refill the cooling system to the proper level.
  6.  
  7. Attach the electrical connector to the sensor securely.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Position a suitable drain pan under the radiator.
  4.  
  5. Drain the engine coolant a level below the coolant temperature sending unit.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the sending unit wiring harness, then remove the coolant temperature sending unit from the engine.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Coat the sending unit threads with a suitable thread sealant.

  3. Install the engine coolant temperature gauge sending unit into the bore in the engine and tighten to 7-8 ft. lbs. (10-12 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Attach the electrical harness connector to the sending unit.
  6.  
  7. Fill the cooling system to the proper level. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.  

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine coolant to a level below the intake manifold.
  4.  
  5. Unplug the sensor wiring harness.
  6.  
  7. Unplug the ECT sensor electrical connector
  8.  
  9. Unthread and remove the sensor from the engine. Use a deep socket and an extension to reach the ECT sensor, remove the ECT sensor from the thermostat housing
  10.  

To install:

  1. Coat the threads of the sensor with a suitable sealant and thread into the housing.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the sensor to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Refill the cooling system to the proper level.
  6.  
  7. Attach the electrical connector to the sensor securely.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.  

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine coolant to a level below the intake manifold.
  4.  
  5. Unplug the sensor wiring harness.
  6.  
  7. Unplug the ECT sensor electrical connector
  8.  
  9. Unthread and remove the sensor from the engine. Use a deep socket and an extension to reach the ECT sensor, remove the ECT sensor from the thermostat housing
  10.  

To install:

  1. Coat the threads of the sensor with a suitable sealant and thread into the housing.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the sensor to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Refill the cooling system to the proper level.
  6.  
  7. Attach the electrical connector to the sensor securely.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.  

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine coolant to a level below the intake manifold.
  4.  
  5. Unplug the sensor wiring harness.
  6.  
  7. Unplug the ECT sensor electrical connector
  8.  
  9. Unthread and remove the sensor from the engine. Use a deep socket and an extension to reach the ECT sensor, remove the ECT sensor from the thermostat housing
  10.  

To install:

  1. Coat the threads of the sensor with a suitable sealant and thread into the housing.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the sensor to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Refill the cooling system to the proper level.
  6.  
  7. Attach the electrical connector to the sensor securely.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.  

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine coolant to a level below the intake manifold.
  4.  
  5. Unplug the sensor wiring harness.
  6.  
  7. Unplug the ECT sensor electrical connector
  8.  
  9. Unthread and remove the sensor from the engine. Use a deep socket and an extension to reach the ECT sensor, remove the ECT sensor from the thermostat housing
  10.  

To install:

  1. Coat the threads of the sensor with a suitable sealant and thread into the housing.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the sensor to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Refill the cooling system to the proper level.
  6.  
  7. Attach the electrical connector to the sensor securely.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.  

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine coolant to a level below the intake manifold.
  4.  
  5. Unplug the sensor wiring harness.
  6.  
  7. Unplug the ECT sensor electrical connector
  8.  
  9. Unthread and remove the sensor from the engine. Use a deep socket and an extension to reach the ECT sensor, remove the ECT sensor from the thermostat housing

To install:

  1. Coat the threads of the sensor with a suitable sealant and thread into the housing.

  3. Tighten the sensor to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Refill the cooling system to the proper level.
  6.  
  7. Attach the electrical connector to the sensor securely.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.  

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine coolant to a level below the intake manifold.
  4.  
  5. Unplug the sensor wiring harness.
  6.  
  7. Unplug the ECT sensor electrical connector
  8.  
  9. Unthread and remove the sensor from the engine. Use a deep socket and an extension to reach the ECT sensor, remove the ECT sensor from the thermostat housing
  10.  

To install:

  1. Coat the threads of the sensor with a suitable sealant and thread into the housing.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the sensor to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Refill the cooling system to the proper level.
  6.  
  7. Attach the electrical connector to the sensor securely.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.
