  1. Remove or disconnect the following:
    NOTE
    On some vehicles, the caliper can be flipped up by leaving the upper pin in place and using it as a pivot point.



    Drain some of the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir
     
    Wheels
     
    Caliper guide and lock pins and lift the caliper assembly from the caliper support.
     



    Brake pads, spring clip and shims
     

  2.  

To install:

  1. Compress the pistons back into the caliper bore.
  2.  
  3. Lubricate slide points and install the brake pads, shims and spring clip onto the caliper support. Install the caliper over the brake pads.
  4.  
  5. Lubricate and install the caliper guide and lock pins in their original positions. Tighten guide and locking pins to 54 ft. lbs. (75 Nm) on the front, and 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm) on the rear.
  6.  
  7. Install the wheels.
  8.  

  1. Remove or disconnect the following:
    NOTE
    On some vehicles, the caliper can be flipped up by leaving the upper pin in place and using it as a pivot point.



    Drain some of the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir
     
    Wheels
     
    Caliper guide and lock pins and lift the caliper assembly from the caliper support.

  3. Lubricate slide points and install the brake pads, shims and spring clips onto the caliper support. Install the caliper over the brake pads.

  7. Install the wheels.

To install:

  1. Compress pistons back into the caliper bore.
  2.  
  3. Lubricate slide points and install the brake pads, shims and spring clips onto the caliper support. Install the caliper over the brake pads.
  4.  
  5. Lubricate and install the caliper guide and lock pins in their original positions.
  6.  
  7. Install the wheels.
  8.  

Lancer Evolution
  1. As required, partially drain the master cylinder.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4.  
  5. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the caliper retaining bolts. Remove the caliper from the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Remove the brake pads and shims from the caliper.
  10.  

To install

  1. Position the brake pads and shims in the caliper.
  2.  
  3. Position the caliper to its mounting on the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Install the caliper retaining bolts.
  6.  
  7. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  8.  
  9. Be sure to check and adjust the brake fluid level, as necessary.
  10.  
  11. Bleed the brake system, as necessary.
