Diagnosis & Testing
Sunroof Initializing Adjustment

The sunroof should be initialized when any of the following components are replaced, the sunroof position is miss timed, the sunroof is in learn mode.



Roof lid glass assembly
 
Sunroof motor
 
Sunroof-ECU .
 

  1. Make sure the components are correctly assembled and all connectors are connected securely.
  2.  
  3. If the sunroof is already in learn mode, go to step 3. If the sunroof is not in learn mode, enter learn mode by i or ii.
    1. i. Disconnect the sunroof-ECU connector while the sunroof is operating.
    2.  
    3. ii. Activate the jam preventing mechanism five times continuously.
    4.

  5. Press the sunroof Close switch repeatedly until the sunroof is tilted up fully.
  6.  
  7. Press and hold the sunroof Close switch for at least three seconds.
  8.  
  9. Press the sunroof Close switch until the sunroof closes fully.
  10.  
  11. Press the sunroof Open switch until the sunroof opens fully. Then press the sunroof Close switch until the sunroof closes fully. The sunroof should work normally.
    NOTE
    Do not stop the sunroof before it reaches the fully open or fully closed position during operations in steps 5 and 6 above. If the sunroof has stopped accidentally, repeat the procedure from step 1.

Removal & Installation
Motor
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the headliner, as shown on the accompanying illustrations. Disconnect the ground cable and sunroof assembly connector as shown.

  5. Remove the overhead console bracket.
  6.  
  7. Remove the sunroof motor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the drive cable clip.
  10.  
  11. Remove the sunroof motor insert.
  12.  
  13. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, noting the following:
    1. Connect the negative battery cable. On 2005-2006 vehicles, turn the ignition ON and then OFF , and keep it off for at least ten seconds.
    2.  
    3. Perform the Sunroof Initializing Adjustment, as outlined in this section under Sunroof Diagnosis and Testing, after installation is complete.

Switch
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the overhead console. Refer to the accompanying illustrations of the headlining for mounting details.
  4.  
  5. Remove the sunroof switch.

To install:

  1. Install the sunroof switch.
  2.  
  3. Install the overhead console in the reverse of the removal procedure.
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable. On 2005-2006 vehicles, turn the ignition ON and then OFF , and keep it off for at least ten seconds.
