Diagnosis & Testing
Power Window Check
  1. Operate the power window switch of each door to verify that the power windows operate properly.
  2.  
  3. Turn ON the power window lock switch of the power window main switch. Then operate the passenger's door and rear door power window sub-switches to ensure that they do not operate. If they do, replace the power window main switch.
  4.  

Power Window Operating Current Check
  1. Remove the power window fuse and connect an ammeter as shown in the illustration.
  2.  
  3. When the power window switch is pressed in the -UP- position, a large amount of current flows from the time the window starts to close until it is fully closed. Measure the current during this time. The standard value (A): 5 ± 1A [Power supply voltage14.5 ± 0.5V, 25°C (77°F)]

Power Window Timer Function Check
  1. After the doors are closed and the ignition switch is turned to the "LOCK" (OFF) position, the power windows should work within 30 seconds. The timer expires if the front door is opened during that 30 second time.

Removal & Installation
Motor & Regulator
  1. Remove the door panel as shown in the accompanying illustrations. Note the following during door panel removal:
    1. Use special tool MB990784 Ornament Remover, or equivalent trim panel removal tool to remove the power window switch panel assembly.

    3. Insert special tool MB990784 Ornament Remover, or equivalent trim panel removal tool to remove the inside handle cover.

    5. Insert a flat-tipped screwdriver into the notch on the front door trim assembly and the rear door trim assembly until the screwdriver tip touches the clip. Disengage the clip to remove the front door trim assembly and rear door trim assembly.

  3. Carefully peel back the waterproof film.
  4.  
  5. Remove the window regulator assembly, as follows:
    1. Remove the door window glass retaining bolts.
      WARNING
      If the windows have tint film, attach special tool MB990480 to the outside of the glass to prevent the film from peeling off.

    3. Carefully lift the door window glass and attach Window Glass Holder MB990480, or equivalent, to the glass as shown in the accompanying illustration to prevent the glass from falling.

    5. Remove the window regulator assembly and power window motor assembly.

  7. Remove the door window glass run channel.
  8.  
  9. Remove the door belt line molding.
  10.  
  11. Carefully remove the door window glass.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Make sure to check the door glass adjustment before installing the plastic film and door panel.
  2.  
  3. Check that the door glass moves while contacting the door glass channel when it is raised and lowered fully. If not, adjust the door window according to the following procedures.
    1. Loosen the door window glass mounting bolts.
    2.  
    3. Adjust the position of the door window glass so that it is aligned with the run channel. On completion, tighten the door window glass mounting bolts.

Switch
  1. Use special tool MB990784 Ornament Remover, or equivalent trim panel removal tool to remove the power window switch panel assembly.

  3. Remove the power window switch panel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the power window main switch or power window sub-switch, as applicable.
