Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least 90 seconds before continuing, to disarm the SRS system. For more information and precautions regarding the SRS system, refer to the Chassis Electrical Section.

  3. Remove the steering wheel cover.
  4.  
  5. Remove the air bag module, as follows:
    1. Slide section A of the clock spring connector in the arrow direction shown in the accompanying illustration, and disconnect the connector.

    3. Loosen the Torx® screw and remove the air bag module assembly.

  7. Remove the steering damper.
  8.  
  9. Loosen the steering wheel nut, then use Special Tool. MB99080 or equivalent puller to remove the steering wheel.

  11. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Tighten the steering wheel nut to 30 ft. lbs. (41 Nm).
