Removal & Installation
Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
Drain the cooling system.
Remove or disconnect the following:
Work must be started after 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the
position and the negative battery cable is disconnected.
Manifold Differential Pressure (MDP) sensor connector
Knock Sensor (KS) connector
Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor connector
Control wiring harness and wiring harness combination connector
Right bank (rear) Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) connector
Right bank (front) HO2S connector
Power Steering Pressure (PSP) switch connector
Evaporative emission purge solenoid connector
Left bank (front) Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) connector
Left bank (rear) HO2S connector
Throttle Position (TP) sensor connector
Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) connector
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve connector
Output shaft speed sensor connector

Matchmark the installed position of the hose and clamp, then disconnect the radiator lower hose connection.
Remove the water inlet fitting, then remove the thermostat.
Thoroughly clean the gasket mating surfaces.

Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, noting the following:
Install the thermostat so the jiggle valve is facing straight up. Be careful not to fold or otherwise damage the rubber ring.

Refer to the fastener tightening specifications shown on the accompanying illustrations.
During installation of the lower radiator hose connection, insert the hose as far as the projection of the water inlet fitting. Align the matchmarks on the hose and hose clamp, then connect the hose.

Fill the engine with the proper type and amount of engine coolant.
