  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the right side instrument panel undercover panel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the glove box panel and frame.
  6.  
  7. Detach the blower motor electrical connection.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect and remove the resistor.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the blower motor ventilation tube.
  12.  
  13. Remove the blower motor mounting bolts, remove the blower motor.
  14.  

To install:

  1. Position the blower motor and install the mounting bolts.
  2.  
  3. Attach the blower motor electrical connection.
  4.  
  5. Connect the blower motor ventilation tube.
  6.  
  7. Install the resistor and the glove box assembly.
  8.  
  9. Install the right side instrument panel undercover panel.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the glove box stopper.
  4.  
  5. Swing the glove box door open all the way and remove the bottom retaining screws. Remove the glovebox.
  6.  
  7. Remove the dash undercover. Note that some of the screws and retainers are concealed behind small covers which must be removed.
  8.  
  9. Remove the heater duct for the passenger's feet.
  10.  
  11. Carefully detach the 10-pin connector running to the back of the glove box frame. Disconnect the single wire (glove box switch) running to the back of the glove box frame.
  12.  
  13. Remove the four bolts holding the glove box frame and remove the frame.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the small air hose running from the fan motor to the fan housing.
  16.  
  17. Detach the electrical connector from the fan motor.
  18.  
  19. Remove the three small bolts holding the motor to the housing, then remove the motor and fan.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Check the inside of the case carefully; any debris can snag the fan and cause noise or poor airflow.
  2.  
  3. Inspect the gasket (packing) under the motor and replace it if cracked or damaged. Reinstall the fan and motor to the case and install the retaining bolts.
  4.  
  5. Attach the air hose and electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Install the glove box frame and connect both the 10-pin and single pin connectors properly.
  8.  
  9. Install the heater duct
  10.  
  11. Install the undercover, taking care to insure it is in place and all the fasteners are secure.
  12.  
  13. Install the glove box and its stopper.
  14.  
  15. Connect the negative battery cable.
  16.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the three instrument panel undercover mounting screws and remove the cover.
  4.  
  5. If equipped with A/C, unplug and remove the compressor module.
  6.  
  7. Detach the electrical connector from the fan motor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the three small bolts holding the motor to the housing and remove the motor and fan.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Check the inside of the case carefully; any debris can snag the fan and cause noise or poor airflow.
  2.  
  3. Install the blower motor, in the blower case and secure with the three mounting bolts.
  4.  
  5. Attach the blower motor electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Install the compressor module, if removed.
  8.  
  9. Install the undercover, taking care to insure it is in place and all the fasteners are secure.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12.

  1. Disarm the air bag, as outlined earlier in this section.
  2.  


CAUTION
Wait at least 1 minute before working on the vehicle. The air bag system is designed to retain enough voltage to deploy the air bag for a short period of time even after the battery has been disconnected.

  1. Remove the passenger side lower instrument panel and shower duct.
  2.  
  3. Remove the glove box striker, glove box, glove box outer casing and the screw below the assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove the evaporator case mounting bolt and nut.
  6.  
  7. Remove the inside/outside air changeover damper motor assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the PCM, mounting bracket and MFI control relay.
  10.  
  11. Remove the instrument panel passengers side lower bracket.
  12.  
  13. Remove the molded hose from the blower assembly.
  14.  
  15. Remove the blower motor assembly.
  16.  
  17. Remove the fan retaining nut and fan in order to replace the motor.
  18.  

To install:

  1. Check that the blower motor shaft is not bent and that the packing is in good condition. Clean all parts of dust, etc.
  2.  
  3. Assemble the motor and fan. Install the blower motor then attach the connector.
  4.  
  5. Install the molded hose. Install the duct or undercover.
  6.  
  7. Install the evaporator case mounting bolt and nut.
  8.  
  9. Install the instrument panel passengers side lower bracket.
  10.  
  11. Install the PCM, mounting bracket and MFI control relay.
  12.  
  13. Install the inside/outside air changeover damper motor assembly.
  14.  
  15. Install the screw below the glove box assembly, and the entire glove box unit.
  16.  
  17. Install the lower instrument panel and shower duct.
  18.  
  19. Connect the negative battery cable and check the entire climate control system for proper operation.
  20.
