Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



VSS signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
VSS power circuit is open (check for power from MFI relay)
 
VSS ground circuit is open between sensor and chassis ground
 
VSS is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed (the PCM provides 5v on the VSS signal circuit)

Idle Speed Control System Malfunction

Possible Causes:



Stepper motor Coil A1 or A2 circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
Stepper motor Coil B1 or B2 circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
Stepper motor coil circuit(s) shorted to system power (B+)
 
Stepper motor power circuit is open (check power at MFI relay)
 
Stepper motor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed

Closed Throttle Position Switch Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



Closed throttle position switch signal circuit is open or grounded
 
Closed throttle position switch signal circuit is shorted to power
 
Closed throttle position switch or TP sensor damaged or failed
 
PCM has failed

Ignition Timing Adjustment Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



Ignition timing adjustment circuit is shorted to ground
 
PCM has failed

ECT sensor signal circuit is open or shorted to ground

Check the operation of the thermostat (it may be stuck open)
 
ECT sensor is damaged or out-of-calibration (it is "skewed")
 
PCM has failed

Possible Causes:



Canister Purge valve is damaged, leaking or it has failed
 
Charcoal canister is loaded with fuel or moisture
 
Fuel filler cap loose, cross-threaded, incorrect part or damaged
 
Fuel tank is cracked (leaking), or a leak exists in the 'O' ring
 
Fuel tank pressure sensor is damaged or has failed
 
Fuel vapor line(s), fuel pipes or hoses damaged or leaking
 
PCM has failed

EVAP Vent Control Solenoid Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



Vent Control solenoid circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
Vent Control solenoid power circuit is open (test from the relay)
 
Vent Control solenoid is damaged or has failed
