Diagnosis & Testing
Power Window Motor Check
  1. Connect a battery directly to the motor terminals and check that the motor runs smoothly.
  2.  
  3. Check that the motor runs in the opposite direction when the battery is connected with the polarity reversed.
  4.  
  5. If defect is found, replace the window regulator as an assembly.
  6.  

Removal & Installation
Motor & Regulator
Front
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the speaker garnish.
  4.  
  5. Remove the door inside handle, as follows:
    1. Insert a flat-blade screwdriver into the back end of the tapping screw cap of the door inside handle cover.
    2.  
    3. Carefully pry the screwdriver in the direction shown in the accompanying illustration. Remove the cap, then remove the capping screw.

    5. Insert Special Tool MB990784, or equivalent suitable trim removal tool, in the gap between the door inside handle cover and door inside handle where shown in the accompanying illustration. Remove the thumb clamp from the door inside handle cover and door inside handle.
    6.  
    7. Insert a special tool from the back end of the door inside handle cover to lift it in the direction of the arrow. Then remove the door inside handle cover.

  7. Remove the delta cover (side view mirror).
  8.  
  9. Use Special Tool MB990784, or equivalent suitable trim removal tool to remove the door trim panel.

  11. Remove the plastic film to access the window motor and regulator.
  12.  
  13. Remove the window regulator assembly and motor, as follows:
    1. Remove the door window glass mounting bolts.
      WARNING
      If the windows have tint film, attach special tool MB990480 to the outside of the glass to prevent the film from peeling off.

    2.  
    3. Carefully lift the door window glass and attach Window Glass Holder MB990480, or equivalent, to the glass as shown in the accompanying illustration to prevent the glass from falling.

    5. Remove the window regulator assembly and power window motor assembly.

  15. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. When installing the window regulator assembly, tighten the bolts in the order shown in the accompanying illustration.

Rear
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  3. Remove the speaker garnish.

  5. Remove the door inside handle, as follows:
    1. Insert a flat-blade screwdriver into the back end of the tapping screw cap of the door inside handle cover.

    3. Carefully pry the screwdriver in the direction shown in the accompanying illustration. Remove the cap, then remove the capping screw.

    5. Insert Special Tool MB990784, or equivalent suitable trim removal tool, in the gap between the door inside handle cover and door inside handle where shown in the accompanying illustration. Remove the thumb clamp from the door inside handle cover and door inside handle.

    7. Insert a special tool from the back end of the door inside handle cover to lift it in the direction of the arrow. Then remove the door inside handle cover.

  7. Use Special Tool MB990784, or equivalent suitable trim removal tool to remove the door trim panel.

    5. Remove the window regulator assembly and power window motor assembly.

  13. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. When installing the window regulator assembly, tighten the bolts in the order shown in the accompanying illustration.

Switch
Front
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  5. Remove the door inside handle, as follows:

    7. Insert a special tool from the back end of the door inside handle cover to lift it in the direction of the arrow. Then remove the door inside handle cover.

    7. Insert a special tool from the back end of the door inside handle cover to lift it in the direction of the arrow. Then remove the door inside handle cover.
