This procedure is only relevant to 2.0L and 2.6L engines equipped with manual transmissions.

- Remove the air filter.
Start the engine and open and close the throttle valve quickly to check MCV operation and air suction noise.
- While operating the throttle lever, the MCV should pop out once and quickly close and an air suction noise should be heard.
- With the engine idling, the MCV should remain closed and no noise should be present.
- If the MCV does not pass these requirements, the unit should be replaced.
