Brake Pads

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel.
  4.  
  5. Compress the caliper.
  6.  
  7. Remove the caliper slide pin bolts.
  8.  
  9. Remove the caliper from the caliper adapter.
    NOTE
    Do not allow brake hose to support caliper assembly.

  10.  
  11. Remove the inboard brake pad from the caliper adapter.
  12.  
  13. Remove the outboard brake pad from the caliper adapter.
  14.  
  15. Remove the anti-rattle clips from the pad.

To install:

  1. Bottom pistons in caliper bore with C-clamp. Place an old brake shoe between a C-clamp and caliper piston.
  2.  
  3. Clean the caliper mounting adapter.
  4.  
  5. Install new anti-rattle clips to the brake pads.
  6.  
  7. Install the inboard brake pad in the adapter.
  8.  
  9. Install the outboard brake pad in the adapter.
  10.  
  11. Install the caliper over rotor. Then, push the caliper onto the adapter.
  12.  
  13. Install the caliper slide pin bolts.
  14.  
  15. Install the wheel.
  16.  
  17. Apply brakes several times to seat caliper pistons and brake shoes and obtain firm pedal.
  18.  
  19. Top off master cylinder fluid level if required.
  20.
