  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:
    WARNING
    Do not lower the rear of the frame too far as damage to the engine components nearest to the cowl may result.



    Stabilizer shaft
     
    Tie rod ends from the steering knuckles
     
    Steering intermediate shaft from the steering gear
     
    Rear frame bolts, use a utility stand in order to support the frame
     



    Use the utility stand in order to lower the frame and the powertrain
     
    Power steering gear heat shield
     
    Power steering gear cooler pipe from the steering gear
     
    Power steering gear pressure hose from the power steering gear
     
    Power steering gear bolts and nuts
     
    Power steering gear through the vehicle left side wheel opening
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:
    NOTE
    This is a prevailing torque type fastener. This fastener may be reused ONLY if: The fastener and its counterpart are clean and free from rust. The fastener develops 18 inch lbs. (2 Nm) of torque/drag against its counterpart prior to the fastener seating. If the fastener does not meet these criteria, REPLACE the fastener.


    NOTE
    Use the utility stand in order to raise the frame and the powertrain.



    Power steering gear through the vehicle left side wheel opening to the frame
     
    Power steering gear bolts
     



    Power steering gear nuts and tighten nuts to 44 ft. lbs. (60 Nm) plus 60 degrees
     
    Power steering gear heat shield
     
    Power steering gear pressure hose to the power steering gear and tighten the fitting to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm)
     
    Power steering gear cooler pipe to the power steering gear and tighten the fitting to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm)
     
    Power steering gear cooler pipe retaining clip
     



    Rear frame bolts and tighten the bolts to 122 ft. lbs. (165 Nm)
     
    Remove the utility stand from the frame
     
    Steering intermediate shaft to the steering gear
     
    Tie rod ends to the steering knuckles
     
    Stabilizer shaft
     

  2.  
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Fill the power steering system.
  6.  
  7. Bleed the power steering system.
  8.
