Removal & Installation




NOTE
Always connect or disconnect the wiring harness connector from the EBCM/EBTCM with the ignition switch in the OFF position. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to the EBCM/EBTCM.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2.  
  3. Remove the air cleaner housing from the engine compartment.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) harness connector.
  6.  
  7. Brush off any dirt/debris that has accumulated on the assembly.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the pump motor connector at the bottom of the EBCM.
  10.  
  11. Do not damage the seal by prying the EBCM from the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV).
  12.  
  13. Do not damage the solenoid valves while removing the EBCM from the BPMV.

  15. Remove the six EBCM to BPMV screws.
  16.  
  17. Separate the EBCM from the BPMV by gently pulling apart until separated.
  18.  

To install:



Use only new wave springs and screws supplied with the new EBCM.
 

  1. Clean the BPMV surface with alcohol using a clean towel.
  2.  
  3. Install the EBCM to the BPMV.
  4.  
  5. Install the six screws that attach the EBCM to the BPMV.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the top four mounting screws to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm). Tighten screws in an X pattern
  8.  
  9. Tighten the bottom two mounting screws to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Connect the pump motor connector to the bottom of the EBCM
  12.  
  13. Connect the EBCM harness connector and depress the locking tab to secure.
  14.  
  15. Install the air cleaner housing.
  16.  
  17. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position, do not start engine.
  18.
