Turn Signal Switch

  1. Verify that the lever is in the center of the OFF position.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Disable the SIR system. Refer to the Chassis Electrical Section.
  6.  
  7. Remove the steering wheel..
  8.  
  9. Remove the steering column trim covers.

  11. Remove the wire harness straps from the wire harness assembly on the steering column.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly connector from the SIR coil assembly connector.

  15. Slide the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly connectors out of the steering column bulkhead connector.

  17. Remove the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly screws from the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly.

  19. Remove the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly from the steering column tilt head assembly.

To install:

  1. Using a small flat-blade tool compress the electrical contact and move the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly into position on the steering column.
    NOTE
    Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Verify that the electrical contact of the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly rests on the turn signal canceling cam.
  4.  
  5. Install the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly screws to the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly and tighten the screws to 62 inch lbs. (7 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Connect the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly connectors into the steering column bulkhead connector.
  8.  
  9. Reconnect the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly connector to the SIR coil assembly connector.
  10.  
  11. Install the wire harness assembly to the steering column wire harness straps.
  12.  
  13. Verify that the lever is in the center or the OFF position.
  14.  
  15. Install the steering column trim covers..
  16.  
  17. Install the steering wheel to the steering column.
  18.  
  19. Enable the SIR system.
  20.  
  21. Connect the negative battery cable.
  22.
