Power Door Locks



Diagnosis & Testing
  1. Perform a diagnostic vehicle check to check for the presence of any diagnostic trouble codes.
  2.  
  3. Check the PWR LOCK fuse.
  4.  
  5. Test Test the battery positive voltage circuit of the body control module (BCM) for a short to ground.
  6.  
  7. Test the battery positive voltage circuit of the BCM for an open.
  8.  
  9. Test the door lock actuator lock control circuits for a short to ground.
  10.  
  11. Test the ground circuit of the door lock switches for an open.
  12.  
  13. Test the door lock actuator unlock control circuit for a short to ground.
  14.  
  15. Test the door lock actuator lock control circuit for an open.
  16.  
  17. Test the driver door lock actuator unlock control circuit for a short to ground.
  18.  
  19. Inspect for any poor connections at the harness connection of the BCM.
  20.  
  21. Replace the BCM.
  22.  

Removal & Installation
Door Lock Motor
Front
  1. Remove the door trim panel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the water deflector.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front door speaker.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the door wiring harness from the body harness.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the sash from the glass by squeezing the tabs on both of the glass attachment clips at the same time. With the tabs pressed down, slide the sash in the direction of the snap tabs until the sash clips clear the glass attachment clips.
  10.  
  11. Slide the glass fully up and tape in place to the door window frame.
  12.  
  13. Remove the door-to-latch screws.

  15. Remove the outside handle from the door, including the disconnecting rod.
  16.  
  17. Remove the door module mounting bolts.
  18.  
  19. Pull the door harness through the hinge face into the door cavity. Remove the door module.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the electrical connector from the lock assembly.
  22.  
  23. Remove the lock from the lock bracket by gently prying off.
  24.  
  25. Rotate the lock to disengage the lock from the rods.
  26.  
  27. Disconnect the front door inside lock handle rods from the front door lock
  28.  

To install:

  1. Position the lock rods to the lock and rotate to fully engage the rods.
  2.  
  3. Install the lock assembly to the lock bracket and snap into place.
  4.  
  5. Connect the electrical connector to the lock assembly.
  6.  
  7. Position the front door hardware module to the front door.
  8.  
  9. Align the modular locator pin into the 4-way locating hole in the door structure.

  11. Install the front door module mounting bolts and tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Install the three door-to-latch screws.
  14.  
  15. Install the outside handle including the rod connect.
  16.  
  17. Remove the tape on the glass and install the glass to the door module sash.
  18.  
  19. Load the door wiring harness through the hinge face and attach to the body harness.
  20.  
  21. Install the front door water deflector.
  22.  
  23. Install the front door speaker.
  24.  
  25. Install the door trim panel.
  26.  

Sliding Door
  1. Remove the sliding door lock as follows:
    1. If equipped with a power sliding door, disable the PSD system by removing the PSD 15A fuse from the instrument panel (I/P) fuse block.
    2.  
    3. Remove the sliding door inner trim panel.
    4.  
    5. Remove the sliding door water deflector.
    6.  
    7. Remove the sliding door latch screws.
    8.  
    9. When the sliding door rear lock is loose, unhook the lock rod from the sliding door rear lock.
    10.  
    11. Disconnect the detent switch electrical connector.
    12.  
    13. Remove the sliding door rear lock from the inside the sliding door.
    14.

  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sliding door lock actuator.
  4.  
  5. Drill out the sliding door actuator rivets and remove the actuator from the door lock assembly.

To install:

  1. Position the sliding door lock actuator to the sliding door lock and align the mounting holes.
  2.  
  3. Install and secure the rivets that attach the sliding door lock actuator to the actuator bracket.
  4.  
  5. Connect the electrical connector to the sliding door lock actuator
  6.  
  7. Install the sliding door lock as follows:
    1. Position the sliding door rear lock inside the sliding door.
    2.  
    3. Hook and secure the lock rod to the sliding door rear lock.
    4.  
    5. Connect the detent switch electrical connector.
    6.  
    7. Install the sliding door rear lock mounting screws and tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
    8.  
    9. Install the water deflector.
    10.  
    11. Install the sliding door inner trim panel.
    12.  
    13. Replace the PSD fuse to the fuse block, if removed.
    14.

Door Lock Switch
  1. Remove the mounting screws and pull up on the switch plate bezel.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  4.  
  5. Remove the door lock switch from the bezel.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse order of removal.
  8.
