Diagnosis & Testing
Driver's Window Switch
  1. With the Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the Driver Window switch.
  2.  
  3. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals A and D and the B+ circuit terminal C with the passenger window switch in the INACTIVE position.
  4.  
  5. If less than infinite resistance, replace the Driver Window switch.
  6.  
  7. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal A and the B+ circuit terminal C with the passenger window switch in the UP position.
  8.  
  9. If greater than 2 ohms, replace the Driver Window switch.
  10.  
  11. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal D and the B+ circuit terminal C with the passenger window switch in the DOWN position.
  12.  
  13. If greater than 2 ohms, replace the Driver Window switch.
  14.  
  15. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals G and H and the B+ circuit terminal C with the driver window switch in the INACTIVE position.
  16.  
  17. If less than infinite resistance, replace the Driver Window switch.
  18.  
  19. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal G and the B+ circuit terminal C with the driver window switch in the UP position.
  20.  
  21. If greater than 2 ohms, replace the Driver Window switch.
  22.  
  23. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal H and the B+ circuit terminal C with the driver window switch in the DOWN position.
  24.  
  25. If greater than 2 ohms, replace the Driver Window switch
  26.  

Passenger's Window Switch
  1. With the Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the Passenger Window switch.
  2.  
  3. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals G and F and the B+ circuit terminal A with the switch in the INACTIVE position.
  4.  
  5. If less than infinite resistance, replace the Passenger Window switch.
  6.  
  7. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal G and the B+ circuit terminal A with the switch in the UP position.
  8.  
  9. If greater than 2 ohms, replace the Passenger Window switch.
  10.  
  11. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal F and the B+ circuit terminal A with the switch in the DOWN position.
  12.  
  13. If greater than 2 ohms, replace the Passenger Window switch.
  14.  

Window Motor
  1. Install a 25-amp fused jumper wire between the control terminal A and 12 volts. Momentarily install a jumper wire between the control terminal B and ground. The appropriate Window Motor should perform the UP or DOWN function.
  2.  
  3. If the function does not perform as specified, replace the appropriate Window Motor.
  4.  
  5. Reverse the jumper wires; the appropriate Window Motor should perform the DOWN or UP function.
  6.  
  7. If the function does not perform as specified, replace the appropriate Window Motor.
  8.  

Removal & Installation
Window Motor & Regulator
Front

CAUTION
Do not attempt to service the regulator motor without releasing the counterbalance spring tension. The regulator lift arm is under tension from the counterbalance spring and can cause personal injury if the motor is removed from the regulator.

  1. Remove the door trim panel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the water deflector.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the wiring harness from the regulator motor connector.
    NOTE
    Draw a line across the spring through the center with a marker or grease pencil in order to aid in the re-installation and orientation of the counterbalance spring.

  6.  
  7. Using Special Tool J-38864 Door Module Coil Spring Tool, release the regulator spring tension, and then walk down the spring tension.
  8.  
  9. Unsnap the power window motor in order to remove the power window motor from the lock module.
  10.  
  11. Turn the window counter balance spring stud ¼ turn counterclockwise and remove from the module.
  12.  
  13. Remove the regulator from the lock module.
  14.  
  15. Gently flex the three motor retaining tabs to release the motor from the door module.

To install:

  1. Install the regulator to the lock module.
  2.  
  3. Lubricate the motor drive gear and the regulator sector teeth.
  4.  
  5. Install the window counter balance spring stud to the module and turn ¼ turn to lock in place.
  6.  
  7. Position the power window module motor to the 3 window module retaining tabs. Press into place until fully seated.
    NOTE
    Ensure the marker or grease pencil line from the removal procedure is lined up. Lining up the mark will set the correct pre-tension of the counterbalance spring.

  8.  
  9. Use Special Tool J-38864 Door Module Coil Spring Tool in order to install the spring tension, and walk up the spring tension.
  10.  
  11. Connect the wiring harness to the regulator motor.
  12.  
  13. Remove the tape from the door glass and position the glass.
  14.  
  15. Slide the window sash onto the door glass.
  16.  
  17. Install the front door water deflector.
  18.  
  19. Install the front door trim panel
  20.  

Window Switch
  1. Remove the mounting screws and pull up on the switch plate bezel.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  4.  
  5. Remove the power window switch from the bezel.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse order of removal.
  8.
