Possible Causes:



MAF sensor element hot wire contaminated or the sensor failed

Possible Causes:

Check for the following conditions:



Poor connection at the PCM -- Inspect harness connectors for the following conditions:

Backed out terminals
 
Improper mating
 
Broken locks
 
Improperly formed or damaged terminals
 
Poor terminal to wire connection
 

Misrouted harness -- Inspect the MAF sensor harness to ensure that it is not routed too close to high voltage wires such as spark plug leads.Damaged harness -- Inspect the wiring harness for damage.If the harness appears to be OK, observe the scan tool while moving connectors and wiring harnesses related to the MAF sensor. A change in the display will indicate the location of the malfunction.

Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor Circuit Low Voltage

Possible Causes:

Check for the following conditions:



Poor connection at the PCM -- Inspect harness connectors for the following conditions:

Backed out terminals

Improperly formed or damaged terminals
 
Poor terminal to wire connection
 

Damaged harness -- Inspect the wiring harness for damage. If the harness appears to be OK, observe the MAP display on the scan tool while moving connectors and wiring harnesses related to the sensor. A change in the display will indicate the location of the malfunction.

Possible Causes:

Check for the following conditions:



Poor connection at PCM -- Inspect harness connectors for the following conditions:

Poor terminal to wire connection If DTC P0113 cannot be duplicated, the information included in the Fail Records data can be useful in determining vehicle mileage since the DTC was last set.
 

Damaged harness -- Inspect the wiring harness for damage. If the harness appears to be OK, observe the IAT display on the scan tool while moving connectors and wiring harnesses related to the IAT sensor. A change in the IAT display will indicate the location of the malfunction.Skewed or mis-scaled IAT sensor -- Refer to Temperature vs Resistance Temperature vs Resistance table.

Possible Causes:

Throttle Position (TP) Sensor Performance

Possible Causes:

Check for the following conditions:



Skewed MAP signal or faulty MAP sensor -- A skewed MAP signal may cause the PCM to incorrectly determine the TP sensor is out of range. Check for an unusually low or high MAP reading. This condition can cause DTC P0121 to be set. Refer to Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor Circuit Diagnosis
 
Poor connection at PCM and TP sensor -- Inspect harness connectors for the following conditions:

Backed out terminals
 
Improper mating
 
Broken locks
 
Improperly formed or damaged terminals
 
Poor terminal to wire connection Use a corresponding mating terminal to test for proper tension. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections , Connector Repairs and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
 

Damaged harness -- Inspect the wiring harness for damage. If the harness appears to be OK, observe the TP Sensor display on the scan tool while moving connectors and wiring harnesses related to the sensor. Possible Causes:

Check for the following conditions:



Poor connection at PCM and TP sensor -- Inspect harness connectors for the following conditions:

Improperly formed or damaged terminals
 
Poor terminal to wire connection Use a corresponding mating terminal to test for proper tension.
 

Damaged harness -- Inspect the wiring harness for damage. If the harness appears to be OK, observe the TP Sensor display on the scan tool while moving connectors and wiring harnesses related to the sensor. Throttle Position (TP) Sensor Circuit High Voltage

Possible Causes:

Check for the following conditions:



Poor connection at PCM -- Inspect harness connectors for the following conditions:

Backed out terminals

Improperly formed or damaged terminals
 
Poor terminal to wire connection
 

Damaged harness -- Inspect the wiring harness for damage. If the harness appears to be OK, observe the TP sensor display on the scan tool while moving connectors and wiring harnesses related to the TP sensor. A change in the display will indicate the location of the malfunction.Malfunctioning TP sensor -- With the key ON, engine not running, observe the TP sensor display on the scan tool while slowly depressing the accelerator to wide open throttle. If a voltage over 4.71 volts is seen at any point in normal accelerator travel, replace the TP sensor.
 

Trouble Code: P0125



Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Insufficient for Closed Loop Fuel Control

Possible Causes:

The DTC P0125 diagnostic test will not run if the engine is started while the coolant temperature is less than 0°C (32°F) or more than 21°C (70°F). If it is not possible to operate the vehicle under the appropriate conditions, check the following items:



Cooling system, coolant level.
 
Thermostat operation. refer to Thermostat Diagnosis .
 
Cooling fans operation, refer to Electric Cooling Fan Diagnosis .
 
Check for high resistance in wiring related to the ECT sensor. Also, check for poor connections at ECT sensor and PCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.
 
DTC P0125 set indicates a skewed ECT sensor. Comparing the engine coolant temperature displayed on a scan tool with actual coolant temperature measured with a thermometer may isolate this condition. If the displayed engine coolant temperature is not close to the actual coolant temperature, replace the ECT sensor. Refer to Temperature vs Resistance .
 
Poor connection at PCM -- Inspect harness connectors for the following conditions:

Backed out terminals
 
Improper mating
 
Broken locks
 
Improperly formed or damaged terminals
 
Poor terminal to wire connection
 

Damaged harness -- Inspect the wiring harness for damage. If the harness appears to be OK, observe the ECT display on the scan tool while moving connectors and wiring harnesses related to the sensor. A change in the display will indicate the location of the malfunction.
 

Trouble Code: P0128



Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature

Possible Causes:

DTC P0128 will set if the diagnostic does not pass within 25 minutes after start up. If DTC P0128 does not reset, inspect the following items:



Cooling system, coolant level.
 
Thermostat operation, refer to Thermostat Diagnosis .
 
Cooling fans operation, refer to Electric Cooling Fan Diagnosis .
 
Check for high resistance in wiring related to the ECT sensor. Also, check for poor connections at ECT sensor and PCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems. Inspect the harness connectors of the ECT and PCM for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, and poor terminal to wire connection. Refer to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Circuit Low Input

Possible Causes:



Air leaks in the exhaust system, intake manifold, vacuum lines
 
Engine misfire condition present (look for P0300 series codes)
 
Fuel system too lean (possible low fuel pressure, water in fuel)
 
HO2S signal circuit is shorted to the sensor or chassis ground
 
HO2S is damaged (i.e., cracked) or air reference hole clogged
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0132



HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Circuit High Input

Possible Causes:



Fuel system is too rich (fuel pressure too high, fuel pressure regulator leaking, or one or more fuel injectors sticking/leaking)
 
HO2S element is silicon, water or fuel contaminated
 
HO2S signal tracking (water intrusion) in the connector causing a short between the HO2S signal and heater power circuits
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0133



HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Slow Response

Possible Causes:



Exhaust leak present in the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipes
 
Fuel system is too rich (fuel pressure too high, fuel pressure regulator leaking, or one or more fuel injectors sticking/leaking)
 
HO2S element is silicon, water or fuel contaminated or it failed
 
TP sensor element broken (can cause false acceleration event)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0134



HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Insufficient Activity

Possible Causes:



HO2S heater is damaged or has failed
 
HO2S signal or ground circuit has a high resistance condition
 
HO2S signal circuit is open or shorted to system power (B+)
 
HO2S has failed (i.e., it is silicon, water or fuel contaminated)
 
PCM has failed

HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Heater Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



HO2S heater ground circuit is open or has high resistance
 
HO2S heater power circuit is open (test O2S fuse in fuse block)
 
HO2S heater element is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed

HO2S-12 (Bank 1 Sensor 2) Circuit Low Input

Possible Causes:



Air leaks in the exhaust system, intake manifold, vacuum lines
 
Engine misfire condition present (look for P0300 series codes)
 
Fuel system too lean (possible low fuel pressure, water in fuel)
 
HO2S signal circuit is shorted to the sensor or chassis ground
 
HO2S is damaged (i.e., cracked) or air reference hole clogged
 
PCM has failed

HO2S-12 (Bank 1 Sensor 2) Circuit High Input

Possible Causes:



Air leaks in intake manifold, exhaust pipes or exhaust manifold
 
Fuel control sensor is out of calibration (ECT, IAT or MAF)
 
Low fuel pressure (fuel filter clogged, pressure regulator failure)
 
One or more injectors restricted or pressure regulator has failed
 
HO2S element is contaminated, deteriorated or has failed
 
Vacuum hose is disconnected, broken, leaking or loose
 

Trouble Code: P0172



Fuel Trim System Rich (Bank 1)

Possible Causes:



Base engine "mechanical" fault affecting one or more cylinders
 
Excess fuel vapors in crankcase (the oil needs to be changed)
 
EVAP system component has failed or canister fuel saturated
 
Fuel control sensor is out of calibration (i.e., ECT, IAT or MAF)
 
Fuel delivery system supplying too much fuel during cruise or idle periods (e.g., faulty fuel pump, or faulty pressure regulator)
 
Fuel injector(s) is leaking or stuck partially open (one or more)
 
HO2S is contaminated, deteriorated or it has failed

Fuel Injector 1 Control Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



Injector 1 power circuit (B+) is open (check the power fuse)
 
Injector 1 control circuit is open between injector and PCM
