NOTE
GM requires a torque angle meter for this procedure.

  1. Remove the valve rocker arm cover(s).
  2.
  3. Remove the rocker arm pedestal retaining bolt(s) and remove the rocker arm(s).
  4.

NOTE
Place all the parts on a clean surface. Store the components in order so they can be reassembled in the same location and with the same mating surfaces as when removed.

  1. Remove the rocker arm bearing(s) and the retainer plate, if necessary.
  2.

To install:

  1. Clean all parts well. Clean all thread-locking compound from the bolts. Use compressed air to blow oil out of the threaded holes in the cylinder head.
  2.
  3. Install the pushrod(s).
  4.
  5. Install the retainer(s). Make sure the arrows on the retainer(s) point toward the center of the engine.
  6.
  7. Install the rocker arm(s) and the bearing(s) and the pedestal bolt(s).
  8.
  9. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (15 Nm). Then, using a torque angle meter, rotate the bolts an additional 90 degrees.
  10.
  11. Install the remaining components in the reverse order of the removal process.
