  6.
  7. Inspect for broken or distorted stabilizer bar bushings, bushing retainers and attaching link bolts. If the stabilizer bar-to-front crossmember bushing replacement is necessary, the bushing can be removed from the stabilizer bar by opening the slit and peeling the bushing off the stabilizer bar.
  8.

To install:

  1. If inspection determines replacement of the stabilizer bar-to-lower control arm attachment link bushing is required, replace the bushings before installing the stabilizer bar. Refer to the accompanying figure for the proper orientation of the attaching link bushing components.

  3. If the bushings require replacement, install them before installing the stabilizer bar. They are replaced by opening the slit on the bushings and peeling them off the stabilizer bar. Install new bushings on the bar by spreading the bushing at the slit and forcing them on the stabilizer bar. The bushings must be installed on the bar with the slit in the bushing facing the front of the vehicle when the bar is installed.

  5. Position the stabilizer bar into the front crossmember, so the cutouts in the bushings are aligned with the raised bead in the crossmember. Install the stabilizer bar bushing retainers onto the crossmember, aligning the raised bead on the retainer with the cutouts in the bushings. Do not tighten the retainers yet.

  7. Line the stabilizer bar attaching link and bushing assemblies up with the attaching link mounting holes in the lower control arms. Install the stabilizer bar attaching links into both lower control arms. Install the attaching link to the stabilizer bar bushing and retaining nut. Tighten the stabilizer bar attaching link nut to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
