Removal & Installation



Electric Motor Type

NOTE
Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Serious burns could occur from high-pressure engine coolant escaping from the radiator.

  1. Be sure the engine is cold.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front bumper.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the harness connector from the fan motor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the retaining bolt.
  10.  
  11. Remove the fan grille and motor assembly.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

Mechanical (Belt Driven) Type

NOTE
Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Serious burns could occur from high-pressure engine coolant escaping from the radiator.

  1. Be sure the engine is cold.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the air duct and resonator assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the engine front undercover.
  8.  
  9. Remove the lower radiator shroud.
  10.  
  11. Remove the drive belt.
  12.  
  13. Remove the cooling fan retaining bolts.
  14.  
  15. Remove the cooling fan from its mounting.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Be sure to install the fan with its front mark F facing the front of the engine.
  4.  
  5. Be sure to refill the cooling using the proper grade and type engine coolant.
  6.  
  7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  8.  
  9. Start the engine and allow it to reach operation temperature. Recheck the coolant level, fill as required.
