Brake Pads

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Wheels
     
    Bottom guide pin from the caliper and swing the caliper cylinder body up
     
    Brake pad retainers and the pads
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Compress the piston of the disc brake caliper.
  2.  
  3. Install or connect the following:

    Brake pads, retainers, and caliper assembly. Torque the guide pin to 16-23 ft. lbs. (22-31 Nm).
     
    Wheels
     

  4.  
  5. Check the master cylinder and add fluid if necessary.
  6.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Front wheels
     
    Sliding pin bolts
     
    Rotate the caliper up and remove the brake pads
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    New pads, new shims and pad retainers
     
    Brake caliper
     
    Wheels
     

  2.  
  3. Bleed the brake system and top off the master cylinder as necessary.
  4.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheels.
  4.  
  5. Remove the bottom guide pin from the caliper and swing the caliper cylinder body up.
  6.  
  7. Remove the brake pad retainers and the pads.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Compress the piston of the disc brake caliper.
  2.  
  3. Install the brake pads, retainers, and caliper assembly. Torque the guide pin to 16-23 ft. lbs. (22-31 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the wheels.
  6.  
  7. Check the master cylinder and add fluid if necessary.
  8.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.

  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

To install:

    Brake caliper
     
    Wheels

  3. Bleed the brake system and top off the master cylinder as necessary.
