Brake Caliper

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Rear wheels
     
    Parking brake cable and the lock spring
     
    Brake fluid hose from the caliper
     
    Caliper pin bolts and remove the caliper
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Turn the piston clockwise back into the caliper body. Remove some brake fluid from the master cylinder, if necessary. Take care not to damage the piston boot.
  2.  
  3. Coat the pad contact area on the mounting support with a silicone based grease.
  4.  
  5. Install or connect the following:

    New pads, shims and the pad springs
     
    Caliper body into position and torque the caliper pin bolts to 16-23 ft. lbs. (22-31 Nm)
     
    Brake fluid hose, using new copper washers, and tighten the flare nut to 12-14 ft. lbs. (17-20 Nm)
     
    Lock spring and the parking brake cable
     

  6.  
  7. Bleed the brake system and top off the master cylinder as necessary.
  8.  
  9. Replace the wheels.
  10.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.

  3. Remove the rear wheels.
  4.  
  5. Remove the parking brake cable and the lock spring.
  6.  
  7. Remove the brake fluid hose from the caliper.
  8.  
  9. Remove the caliper pin bolts and remove the caliper.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Turn the piston clockwise back into the caliper body. Remove some brake fluid from the master cylinder, if necessary. Take care not to damage the piston boot.
  2.  
  3. Coat the pad contact area on the mounting support with a silicone based grease.
  4.  
  5. Install the new pads, shims and the pad springs.
  6.  
  7. Install the caliper body into position and torque the caliper pin bolts to 16-23 ft. lbs. (22-31 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Reconnect the brake fluid hose and tighten the flare nut to 12-14 ft. lbs. (17-20 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the lock spring and the parking brake cable.
  12.  
  13. Bleed the brake system and top off the master cylinder as necessary.
  14.  
  15. Replace the wheels.

  7. Bleed the brake system and top off the master cylinder as necessary.

  9. Replace the wheels.

With Ad14ve Caliper
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Rear wheels
     
    Brake fluid hose from the caliper
     
    Caliper pin bolts and remove the caliper
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    New pads, shims and the pad springs
     
    Caliper body into position and torque the caliper pin bolts to 16-23 ft. lbs. (22-31 Nm)
     
    Brake fluid hose, using new copper washers, and tighten the flare nut to 12-14 ft. lbs. (17-20 Nm)
     

  2.  
  3. Bleed the brake system and top off the master cylinder as necessary.
  4.  
  5. Replace the wheels.
  6.

    Caliper body into position and torque the caliper pin bolts to 16-23 ft. lbs. (22-31 Nm)
     
    Brake fluid hose, using new copper washers, and tighten the flare nut to 12-14 ft. lbs. (17-20 Nm)
     

  2.  
  3. Bleed the brake system and top off the master cylinder as necessary.
  4.  
  5. Replace the wheels.
  6.  

With Opb13vb Caliper
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Rear wheels
     
    Caliper pin bolts and remove the caliper
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    New pads, shims and the pad springs
     
    Caliper body into position and torque the caliper mounting bolts to 53-71 ft. lbs. (72-97 Nm)
     

  2.  

With Opb13vb/Brembo Caliper
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Rear wheels
     
    Caliper pin bolts and remove the caliper

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    New pads, shims and the pad springs
     
    Caliper body into position and torque the caliper mounting bolts to 53-71 ft. lbs. (72-97 Nm)
