Checking compression on the Datsun/Nissan LD28 diesel engine is the same procedure as on the gasoline engines, except for the following:
- A special compression gauge adaptor suitable for diesel engines must be used.
- Begin the procedure by removing the spill tube assembly, the injection tubes on the nozzle side, and nozzle assemblies.
Remove the nozzle washer with a pair of tweezers. Don't forget to remove this washer; otherwise, it may get lost when the engine is cranked.
- When fitting the compression gauge adaptor to the cylinder head, make sure the bleeder of the gauge is closed.
- When reinstalling the injector assemblies, install new nozzle washers.
