Checking compression on the Datsun/Nissan LD28 diesel engine is the same procedure as on the gasoline engines, except for the following:

  1. A special compression gauge adaptor suitable for diesel engines must be used.
  2.  
  3. Begin the procedure by removing the spill tube assembly, the injection tubes on the nozzle side, and nozzle assemblies.
  4.  

Remove the nozzle washer with a pair of tweezers. Don't forget to remove this washer; otherwise, it may get lost when the engine is cranked.

  1. When fitting the compression gauge adaptor to the cylinder head, make sure the bleeder of the gauge is closed.
  2.  
  3. When reinstalling the injector assemblies, install new nozzle washers.
