200SX, 510, 610 and 710 Sedans

  1. Open the trunk and remove the cover panel, if necessary, to expose the shock mounts. Pry off the mount covers, if so equipped. On leaf spring models, jack up the rear of the vehicle and support the rear axle on stands.

  3. Remove the two nuts holding the top of the shock absorber. Unbolt the bottom of the shock absorber.
  4.  
  5. Remove the shock absorber.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal.

510, 610, 710 and 810 Station Wagons
  1. Jack up the rear of the car and support the axle on stands.
  2.  
  3. Remove the lower retaining nut on the shock absorber.
  4.  
  5. Remove the upper retaining bolt(s).
  6.  
  7. Remove the shock from under the car. On the 610, remove the retaining strap from the old shock and install it on the replacement shock.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal.
