Calibration



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
    NOTE
    After removing/installing or replacing the yaw rate/side/decel G-sensor, ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit), suspension components, or after adjusting the wheel alignment, make sure to calibrate the decel G-sensor before running the vehicle.


    CAUTION
    To calibrate the decel G-sensor, make sure to use the CONSULT-II. (Adjustment cannot be done without the CONSULT-II.)

  3. Stop the vehicle with the front wheels in the straight-ahead position.
    CAUTION
    The work should be done on a flat area when the vehicle is in the unloaded vehicle condition. Keep all tires inflated to the correct pressures. Adjust the tire pressure to the specified value.

  5. Connect the CONSULT-II and CONSULT-II CONVERTER to data link connector on vehicle, and turn the ignition switch ON (do not start engine).
    CAUTION
    If the CONSULT-II is used without the CONSULT-II CONVERTER, malfunctions might be detected in self-diagnosis, depending on control unit which carry out CAN communication.

  6.  
  7. Touch -ABS-, -WORK SUPPORT- and -DECEL G-SEN CALIBRATION- on the CONSULT-II screen in this order.
  8.  
  9. Touch -START-.
  10.  
  11. After approximately 10 seconds, touch -END-. (After approximately 60 seconds, it ends automatically.)
  12.  
  13. Turn the ignition switch OFF, then turn it ON again.
    CAUTION
    Be sure to carry out above operation.

  15. Run the vehicle with the front wheels in the straight-ahead position, then stop.
  16.  
  17. Select -DATA MONITOR-, -SELECTION FROM MENU-, and -DECEL G-SEN- on the CONSULT-II screen. Then make sure -DECEL G-SEN- is within 0 ±0.08 G. If value is more than specified, repeat steps 3 to 7.
  18.  
  19. Erase the memory of the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) and ECM.
  20.  
  21. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  22.  

Removal & Installation



The manufacturer does not provide removal and installation procedures for this component. Please note the following before removal and/or installation is attempted.


NOTE
Always replace the sensor if it is dropped, from a height of 12 inches or more, or bumped. Otherwise performance characteristics of the sensor will be changed., which in turn changes the ABS control performance characteristics.


NOTE
When replacing the VDC/TCS/ABS sensor, tighten the retaining bolts to 62 inch lbs and then retighten to 80 inch lbs.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.

  3. Position the front wheels in the straight ahead position.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Remove the center console cup finisher.
  8.  
  9. Remove the transmission selector finisher.
  10.  
  11. Remove the center console retaining screws.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  14.  
  15. Remove the center console.
  16.  
  17. Remove the sensor retaining nuts.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the electrical harness connector.
  20.  
  21. Remove the sensor from the vehicle.
  22.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Calibrate the Decel G sensor.
  4.  

3.3L Engine

The manufacturer does not provide removal and installation procedures for this component. Please note the following before removal and/or installation is attempted.
