    1. Disconnect both the negative (1st) and positive (2nd) battery cables.
    2.  
    3. Remove the steering wheel by performing the following procedure:
      1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
      2.  

    4.  


    CAUTION
    Wait 3 minutes after disconnecting the battery cables and turning the ignition switch to the OFF position before servicing the air bag system.

    1. Remove the lower lid and disconnect the driver-s air bag module connector.
    2.  
    3. Remove both side lids.
    4.  
    5. Using the Tamper Resistant Torx® Wrench size T50, remove the special bolts from both sides of the steering wheel and discard them.
    6.  
    7. Remove the SRS module from the steering wheel.
    8.  


    CAUTION
    Always store the SRS module face up.

    1. Position the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.
    2.  
    3. Disconnect the horn connector and remove the steering wheel nut.
    4.  
    5. Using a steering wheel puller, press the steering wheel from the steering column.
    6.  

    1. Remove the passenger-s side air bag by disconnecting or removing the following items:
      1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
      2.  

    2.  


    CAUTION
    Wait 3 minutes after disconnecting the battery cables and turning the ignition switch to the OFF position before servicing the air bag system.

    1. Open the glove box door.
    2.  
    3. Working inside the glove box, open the lower instrument panel lid.
    4.  
    5. Remove the passenger-s air bag module connector clip from the lid.
    6.  
    7. Disconnect the passenger-s SRS module connector.
    8.  
    9. Remove the glove box and the lower passenger-s side instrument panel.
    10.  
    11. Using the Tamper Resistant Torx® Wrench size T50, remove the SRS module-to-instrument panel special bolts and discard them.
    12.  
    13. Remove the 4 SRS module-to-instrument panel mounting nuts.
    14.  
    15. Release the SRS module-to-instrument panel clips and remove the SRS module.
    16.  


    CAUTION
    Always store the SRS module face up.

    1. Drain the cooling system into a clean container for reuse.
    2.  
    3. Working inside the engine compartment, disconnect the 2 heater hoses from the heater core.
    4.  
    5. Discharge and recover the air conditioning system refrigerant.
    6.  
    7. Disconnect both refrigerant lines from the evaporator core. Plug the lines to prevent moisture from entering the system.
    8.  
    9. Remove the glove box and the mating trim.
    10.  
    11. Disconnect the thermal amp connector.
    12.  
    13. Remove the air conditioning housing assembly from the vehicle.
    14.  
    15. Remove the instrument panel assembly by performing the following procedure:
      1. Remove the 4 steering column cover screws; then, separate and remove the steering column covers.
      2.  
      3. Remove the 2 driver-s side lower instrument panel screws and the lower instrument panel.
      4.  
      5. Remove the 4 cluster cover screws and the cluster cover.
      6.  
      7. Remove the 6 combination meter screws; then, disconnect the combination meter electrical connector and remove the meter.
      8.  
      9. Remove the 2 glove box screws and the glove box.
      10.  
      11. Remove the 2 instrument stay cover screws; then, disconnect the electrical harness connectors and remove the stay cover.
      12.  
      13. Remove the 2 cluster lid -C- screws; then, disconnect the electrical harness connectors and remove the cluster lid -C-.
      14.  
      15. Remove the 4 audio and deck pocket screws; then, disconnect the electrical harness connectors and remove the audio and deck pocket.
      16.  
      17. Disconnect the ASCD main switch connector.
      18.  
      19. Remove the 2 meter cover screws; then, disconnect the electrical harness connectors and remove the meter cover.
      20.  
      21. Remove the 4 air conditioning-heater control screws; then, disconnect the control cables and remove the air conditioning-heater control.
      22.  
      23. Remove the front pillar garnish.
      24.  
      25. Remove the 3 instrument panel assembly nuts and 2 bolts; then, remove the instrument panel.
      26.

    17. Remove the heater housing assembly.
    18.  
    19. Remove the heater core from the heater housing assembly.

    To install:

    1. Install the heater core to the heater housing assembly.
    2.  
    3. Install the heater housing assembly.
    4.  
    5. Install the instrument panel assembly by performing the following procedure:
      1. Install the instrument panel and the 3 instrument panel assembly nuts and 2 bolts.
      2.  
      3. Install the front pillar garnish.
      4.  
      5. Install the air conditioning-heater control, connect the control cables and install the 4 air conditioning/heater control screws.
      6.  
      7. Install the meter cover, connect the electrical harness connectors and install the 2 meter cover screws.
      8.  
      9. Connect the ASCD main switch connector.
      10.  
      11. Install the audio and deck pocket, connect the electrical harness connectors and install the 4 audio and deck pocket screws.
      12.  
      13. Install the cluster lid -C-, connect the electrical harness connectors and install the 2 cluster lid -C- screws.
      14.  
      15. Install the stay cover, connect the electrical harness connectors and the 2 instrument stay cover screws.
      16.  
      17. Install the glove box and the 2 glove box screws.
      18.  
      19. Install the meter, connect the combination meter electrical connector and install the 6 combination meter screws.
      20.  
      21. Install the cluster cover and the 4 cluster cover screws.
      22.  
      23. Install the lower instrument panel and the 2 driver-s side lower instrument panel screws.
      24.  
      25. Install the steering column covers and the 4 steering column cover screws.
      26.  

    6.  
    7. Install the air conditioning housing assembly to the vehicle.
    8.  
    9. Connect the thermal amp connector.
    10.  
    11. Install the glove box and the mating trim.
    12.  
    13. Connect both refrigerant lines to the evaporator core.
    14.  
    15. Inside the engine compartment, connect the heater hoses to the heater core.
    16.  
    17. Refill the cooling system.
    18.  
    19. Install the passenger-s side air bag by performing the following procedure:
      1. Install the SRS module and secure the SRS module-to-instrument panel clips.
      2.  
      3. Install the 4 SRS module-to-instrument panel mounting nuts.
      4.  
      5. Using the Tamper Resistant Torx® Wrench size T50, install the new special SRS module-to-instrument panel bolts.
      6.  
      7. Install the lower passenger-s side instrument panel and the glove box.
      8.  
      9. Connect the passenger-s SRS module connector.
      10.  
      11. Install the passenger-s air bag module connector clip to the lid.
      12.  
      13. Inside the glove box, close the lower instrument panel lid.
      14.  
      15. Close the glove box door.
      16.  

    20.  
    21. Install the steering wheel by performing the following procedure:
      1. Align the spiral cable pin guide and install the steering wheel by pulling the spiral cable connectors through it.
      2.  
      3. Connect the horn connector and connect the spiral cable by aligning the pawls in the steering wheel.
      4.  
      5. Install the steering wheel nut and torque it to 22-29 ft. lbs. (29-39 Nm).
      6.  
      7. Install the SRS module to the steering wheel.
      8.  
      9. Using the Tamper Resistant Torx® Wrench size T50, install the new special bolts to both sides of the steering wheel.
      10.  
      11. Install the lower lid and disconnect the driver-s air bag module connector.
      12.  
      13. Install both side lids.
      14.  
      15. Rotate the steering wheel fully right and left to make sure that the spiral cable is set in the neutral position.
      16.  

    22.  
    23. Connect both the positive (1st) and negative (2nd) battery cables.
    24.  
    25. Evacuate and charge the air conditioning system refrigerant.
    26.  
    27. Run the engine to normal operating temperatures; then, check the climate control operation and check for leaks.
    28.  

    2002-2004



    1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
    2.  
    3. Disconnect both the negative (1st) and positive (2nd) battery cables.
    4.  
    5. Remove the steering wheel by performing the following procedure:
      1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
        CAUTION
        Wait 3 minutes after disconnecting the battery cables and turning the ignition switch to the OFF position before servicing the air bag system.

      2.  
      3. Remove the lower lid and disconnect the driver-s air bag module connector.
      4.  
      5. Remove both side lids.
      6.  
      7. Using the Tamper Resistant Torx® Wrench size T50, remove the special bolts from both sides of the steering wheel and discard them.
      8.  
      9. Remove the SRS module from the steering wheel.
        CAUTION
        Always store the SRS module face up.

      10.  
      11. Position the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.
      12.  
      13. Disconnect the horn connector and remove the steering wheel nut.
      14.  
      15. Using a steering wheel puller, press the steering wheel from the steering column.
      16.  

    6.  
    7. Remove the passenger-s side air bag by disconnecting or removing the following items:
      1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
        CAUTION
        Wait 3 minutes after disconnecting the battery cables and turning the ignition switch to the OFF position before servicing the air bag system.

      3. Open the glove box door.
      4.  
      5. Working inside the glove box, open the lower instrument panel lid.
      6.  
      7. Remove the passenger-s air bag module connector clip from the lid.
      8.  
      9. Disconnect the passenger-s SRS module connector.
      10.  
      11. Remove the glove box and the lower passenger-s side instrument panel.
      12.  
      13. Using the Tamper Resistant Torx® Wrench size T50, remove the SRS module-to-instrument panel special bolts and discard them.
      14.  
      15. Remove the 4 SRS module-to-instrument panel mounting nuts.
      16.  
      17. Release the SRS module-to-instrument panel clips and remove the SRS module.
        CAUTION
        Always store the SRS module face up.

      18.  

    8.  
    9. Drain the cooling system into a clean container for reuse.
    10.  
    11. Working inside the engine compartment, disconnect the 2 heater hoses from the heater core.

      11. Remove the 2 instrument stay cover screws; then, disconnect the electrical harness connectors and remove the stay cover.
      12.  
      13. Remove the 2 cluster lid -C- screws; then, disconnect the electrical harness connectors and remove the cluster lid -C-.

      15. Remove the 4 audio and deck pocket screws; then, disconnect the electrical harness connectors and remove the audio and deck pocket.

      17. Disconnect the ASCD main switch connector.
      18.  
      19. Remove the 2 meter cover screws; then, disconnect the electrical harness connectors and remove the meter cover.
      20.  
      21. Remove the 4 air conditioning-heater control screws; then, disconnect the control cables and remove the air conditioning-heater control.
      22.  
      23. Remove the front pillar garnish.
      24.  
      25. Remove the 3 instrument panel assembly nuts and 2 bolts; then, remove the instrument panel.

    1. Install the heater core to the heater housing assembly.
    2.  
    3. Install the heater housing assembly.
    4.  
    5. Install the instrument panel assembly by performing the following procedure:
      1. Install the instrument panel and the 3 instrument panel assembly nuts and 2 bolts.
      2.  
      3. Install the front pillar garnish.
      4.  
      5. Install the air conditioning-heater control, connect the control cables and install the 4 air conditioning/heater control screws.
      6.  
      7. Install the meter cover, connect the electrical harness connectors and install the 2 meter cover screws.
      8.  
      9. Connect the ASCD main switch connector.
      10.  
      11. Install the audio and deck pocket, connect the electrical harness connectors and install the 4 audio and deck pocket screws.

      13. Install the cluster lid -C-, connect the electrical harness connectors and install the 2 cluster lid -C- screws.

      15. Install the stay cover, connect the electrical harness connectors and the 2 instrument stay cover screws.

      17. Install the glove box and the 2 glove box screws.
      18.  
      19. Install the meter, connect the combination meter electrical connector and install the 6 combination meter screws.
      20.  
      21. Install the cluster cover and the 4 cluster cover screws.
      22.  
      23. Install the lower instrument panel and the 2 driver-s side lower instrument panel screws.
      24.  
      25. Install the steering column covers and the 4 steering column cover screws.
      26.

    7. Install the air conditioning housing assembly to the vehicle.
    8.  
    9. Connect the thermal amp connector.
    10.  
    11. Install the glove box and the mating trim.

      9. Connect the passenger-s SRS module connector.

      11. Install the passenger-s air bag module connector clip to the lid.
      12.  
      13. Inside the glove box, close the lower instrument panel lid.
      14.  
      15. Close the glove box door.
      16.  

    20.  
    21. Install the steering wheel by performing the following procedure:

    3. Disconnect the two heater hoses from the engine compartment side.

    5. Discharge the A/C system.

    7. Disconnect the two evaporator core refrigerant lines from the engine compartment side. Cap the refrigerant lines to prevent moisture from entering the system.
    8.  
    9. Remove the glove box and mating trim.
    10.  
    11. Disconnect the thermal amp. connector.
    12.  
    13. Remove the cooling unit.
    14.  
    15. Separate the cooling unit case, and remove the evaporator.
    16.  
    17. Remove the steering column.
    18.  
    19. Remove the heater unit.
    20.  
    21. Remove the heater core.
    22.  
    23. Installation is the reverse of removal.
    24.  

    2005




    NOTE
    Be sure to disarm the SRS system, prior to working on the vehicle. Turn the ignition switch OFF, disconnect both battery cables and wait at least three minutes before starting any work.

    1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
    2.  
    3. Position the front wheels in the straight ahead direction.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
    6.  
    7. Drain the cooling system.
    8.  
    9. Properly discharge the air conditioning system.
    10.  
    11. If equipped with the 4.0L engine, remove the right side heater core pipe nuts.
    12.  
    13. Disconnect the heater core hoses from the heater core.
    14.  
    15. Disconnect the air conditioning refrigerant lines from the expansion valve.
    16.  
    17. Position the front seats in the rearmost position on the seat tracks. Remove the lower instrument panel.
    18.  
    19. Remove the cluster lid -C-. Remove the transmission trim panel. Remove the center console screws. Disconnect the electrical connectors. Remove the center console.

    21. Remove the upper front pillar trim panel. Remove the steering lock escutcheon. Remove the cluster lid -A-. Remove the combination meter. Disconnect the electrical connections.
    22.  
    23. Remove the optical sensor. Remove the audio unit. Remove the cluster lid -D-.
    24.  
    25. Remove the glove box. Remove the two bolts, through the glove box opening, retaining the front passenger-s side air bag module to the steering member. Disconnect the air bag module connectors.

    27. Remove the instrument stay right side and left side bolts. Remove the instrument panel.

    29. Remove the two front floor ducts.
    30.  
    31. To remove the driver-s side air bag module, locate the retaining clip access hole under the steering wheel. Insert a suitable blunt tool (4mm-6mm in size)
      NOTE
      Do not use sharp edged objects, such as a screwdriver, to release the driver-s side airbag module from the steering wheel as SRS components may be unintentionally damaged.

    32.  
    33. Press upward, toward the center of the steering wheel, on the retaining clip until the air bag module is released from the steering wheel.
    34.  
    35. Lift the air bag module from the steering wheel. Disconnect the electrical connectors. Remove the air bag module.
    36.  
    37. Disconnect the steering wheel switches. Remove the steering wheel center nut. Using a steering wheel removal tool, remove the steering wheel.
    38.  
    39. Remove the steering column upper and lower covers. Disconnect the wiper and washer switch connector. While pressing the tabs, pull the wiper and washer switch away from the spiral cable to remove it.
    40.  
    41. Disconnect the light and turn signal switch connector. While pressing the tabs, pull the light and turn signal switch toward the driver-s door to remove it.
    42.  
    43. Remove the screws. While pressing the tab, pull the spiral cable away from the steering column assembly. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
      NOTE
      With the steering linkage disconnected, the spiral cable may snap by turning the steering wheel beyond the limited number of turns. The spiral cable can be turned counterclockwise about 2.5 turns from the neutral position.

    45. Remove the lower knee protector.
    46.  
    47. Remove the locknut and bolt from the upper joint and then separate the upper joint from the upper shaft.
    48.  
    49. Remove the three nuts and bolt from the steering column and then remove the steering column assembly from the steering member.
    50.  
    51. Remove the hole cover seal and clamp. Remove the hole cover nuts, remove the hole cover from the dash panel.
    52.  
    53. Remove the bolt from the lower joint of the lower joint shaft and remove the lower joint shaft from the vehicle.
    54.  
    55. Disconnect the instrument panel wire harness at the right and left in-line connector brackets, and the fuse block (SMJ) electrical connectors.
    56.  
    57. Remove the covers and than remove the three steering member bolts from each side to disconnect the steering member from the vehicle body.
    58.  
    59. Remove the heater/evaporator case assembly with it attached to the steering member from the vehicle.
    60.  
    61. Separate the steering member from the heater/evaporator unit.
    62.  
    63. Remove the heater cover retaining screws. Remove the cover.
    64.  
    65. Remove the heater core and the evaporator pipe bracket. Remove the heater core.

    To install:

    1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
      NOTE
      If the in-cabin microfilters are contaminated with coolant, replace them.

    2.  
    3. Be sure to use new steering column retaining bolts and pinch bolt, as required.
      NOTE
      When installing the steering column, finger tighten all of the lower bracket and joint bolts and then tighten them to specification. Do not apply undue stress to the steering column.

    4.  
    5. With the wheels in the straight ahead position align the slit of the lower joint with the projection on the dust cover. Insert the joint until surface -A- contacts surface -B-

    7. Be sure to align the spiral cable correctly when installing the steering wheel. Make sure that the cable is in the neutral position. The neutral position is detected by turning left 2.6 revolutions from the right end position and ending with the locating pin at the top.

    9. To adjust the steering angle sensor neutral position, position the steering wheel in the straight ahead position and rive the vehicle at 10 mph or more for ten minutes. When the procedure is complete, the SLP indicator lamp and the VDC OFF indicator lamp will turn off.
    10.  
    11. Be sure to fill the cooling system with the proper grade and type coolant.
    12.  
    13. Be sure to recharge the air conditioning system.
    14.  
    15. Check and adjust the front end alignment, as necessary.
    16.

    Removal & Installation
    1. Disconnect both the negative (1st) and positive (2nd) battery cables.

      1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

      5. Remove both side lids.
      6.  
      7. Using the Tamper Resistant Torx® Wrench size T50, remove the special bolts from both sides of the steering wheel and discard them.

      9. Remove the SRS module from the steering wheel.
        CAUTION
        Always store the SRS module face up.

      10.  
      11. Position the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.
      12.  
      13. Disconnect the horn connector and remove the steering wheel nut.
      14.  
      15. Using a steering wheel puller, press the steering wheel from the steering column.
      16.  

    4.  
    5. Remove the passenger-s side air bag by disconnecting or removing the following items:
      1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
        CAUTION
        Wait 3 minutes after disconnecting the battery cables and turning the ignition switch to the OFF position before servicing the air bag system.

      3. Open the glove box door.
      4.  
      5. Working inside the glove box, open the lower instrument panel lid.
      6.  
      7. Remove the passenger-s air bag module connector clip from the lid.
      8.  
      9. Disconnect the passenger-s SRS module connector.
      10.  
      11. Remove the glove box and the lower passenger-s side instrument panel.
      12.  
      13. Using the Tamper Resistant Torx® Wrench size T50, remove the SRS module-to-instrument panel special bolts and discard them.
      14.  
      15. Remove the 4 SRS module-to-instrument panel mounting nuts.
      16.  
      17. Release the SRS module-to-instrument panel clips and remove the SRS module.
        CAUTION
        Always store the SRS module face up.

      18.  

    6.  
    7. Drain the cooling system into a clean container for reuse.
    8.  
    9. Working inside the engine compartment, disconnect the 2 heater hoses from the heater core.

    11. Discharge and recover the air conditioning system refrigerant.

    13. Disconnect both refrigerant lines from the evaporator core. Plug the lines to prevent moisture from entering the system.

    15. Remove the glove box and the mating trim.
    16.  
    17. Disconnect the thermal amp connector.
    18.  
    19. Remove the air conditioning housing assembly from the vehicle.
    20.  
    21. Remove the instrument panel assembly by performing the following procedure:
      1. Remove the 4 steering column cover screws; then, separate and remove the steering column covers.
      2.  
      3. Remove the 2 driver-s side lower instrument panel screws and the lower instrument panel.
      4.  
      5. Remove the 4 cluster cover screws and the cluster cover.
      6.  
      7. Remove the 6 combination meter screws; then, disconnect the combination meter electrical connector and remove the meter.
      8.  
      9. Remove the 2 glove box screws and the glove box.
      10.  
      11. Remove the 2 instrument stay cover screws; then, disconnect the electrical harness connectors and remove the stay cover.
      12.  
      13. Remove the 2 cluster lid -C- screws; then, disconnect the electrical harness connectors and remove the cluster lid -C-.
      14.  
      15. Remove the 4 audio and deck pocket screws; then, disconnect the electrical harness connectors and remove the audio and deck pocket.
      16.  
      17. Disconnect the ASCD main switch connector.
      18.  
      19. Remove the 2 meter cover screws; then, disconnect the electrical harness connectors and remove the meter cover.
      20.  
      21. Remove the 4 air conditioning-heater control screws; then, disconnect the control cables and remove the air conditioning-heater control.
      22.  
      23. Remove the front pillar garnish.
      24.  
      25. Remove the 3 instrument panel assembly nuts and 2 bolts; then, remove the instrument panel.

    To install:

    1. Install the heater core to the heater housing assembly.
    2.  
    3. Install the heater housing assembly.
    4.  
    5. Install the instrument panel assembly by performing the following procedure:
      1. Install the instrument panel and the 3 instrument panel assembly nuts and 2 bolts.
      2.  
      3. Install the front pillar garnish.
      4.  
      5. Install the air conditioning-heater control, connect the control cables and install the 4 air conditioning/heater control screws.
      6.  
      7. Install the meter cover, connect the electrical harness connectors and install the 2 meter cover screws.
      8.  
      9. Connect the ASCD main switch connector.
      10.  
      11. Install the audio and deck pocket, connect the electrical harness connectors and install the 4 audio and deck pocket screws.
      12.  
      13. Install the cluster lid -C-, connect the electrical harness connectors and install the 2 cluster lid -C- screws.
      14.  
      15. Install the stay cover, connect the electrical harness connectors and the 2 instrument stay cover screws.
      16.  
      17. Install the glove box and the 2 glove box screws.
      18.  
      19. Install the meter, connect the combination meter electrical connector and install the 6 combination meter screws.
      20.  
      21. Install the cluster cover and the 4 cluster cover screws.
      22.  
      23. Install the lower instrument panel and the 2 driver-s side lower instrument panel screws.
      24.  
      25. Install the steering column covers and the 4 steering column cover screws.
      26.

    7. Install the air conditioning housing assembly to the vehicle.
    8.  
    9. Connect the thermal amp connector.
    10.  
    11. Install the glove box and the mating trim.
    12.  
    13. Connect both refrigerant lines to the evaporator core.
    14.  
    15. Inside the engine compartment, connect the heater hoses to the heater core.
    16.  
    17. Refill the cooling system.
    18.  
    19. Install the passenger-s side air bag by performing the following procedure:
      1. Install the SRS module and secure the SRS module-to-instrument panel clips.
      2.  
      3. Install the 4 SRS module-to-instrument panel mounting nuts.
      4.  
      5. Using the Tamper Resistant Torx® Wrench size T50, install the new special SRS module-to-instrument panel bolts.
      6.  
      7. Install the lower passenger-s side instrument panel and the glove box.
      8.  
      9. Connect the passenger-s SRS module connector.
      10.  
      11. Install the passenger-s air bag module connector clip to the lid.
      12.  
      13. Inside the glove box, close the lower instrument panel lid.
      14.  
      15. Close the glove box door.
      16.  

    20.  
    21. Install the steering wheel by performing the following procedure:
      1. Align the spiral cable pin guide and install the steering wheel by pulling the spiral cable connectors through it.
      2.  
      3. Connect the horn connector and connect the spiral cable by aligning the pawls in the steering wheel.
      4.  
      5. Install the steering wheel nut and torque it to 22-29 ft. lbs. (29-39 Nm).
      6.  
      7. Install the SRS module to the steering wheel.
      8.  
      9. Using the Tamper Resistant Torx® Wrench size T50, install the new special bolts to both sides of the steering wheel.
      10.  
      11. Install the lower lid and disconnect the driver-s air bag module connector.
      12.  
      13. Install both side lids.
      14.  
      15. Rotate the steering wheel fully right and left to make sure that the spiral cable is set in the neutral position.
      16.  

    22.  
    23. Connect both the positive (1st) and negative (2nd) battery cables.
    24.  
    25. Evacuate and charge the air conditioning system refrigerant.
    26.  
    27. Run the engine to normal operating temperatures; then, check the climate control operation and check for leaks.
    28.  

    1. Disconnect both the negative (1st) and positive (2nd) battery cables.
    2.  
    3. Remove the steering wheel by performing the following procedure:
      1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
        CAUTION
        Wait 3 minutes after disconnecting the battery cables and turning the ignition switch to the OFF position before servicing the air bag system.

      2.  
      3. Remove the lower lid and disconnect the driver-s air bag module connector.
      4.  
      5. Remove both side lids.
      6.  
      7. Using the Tamper Resistant Torx® Wrench size T50, remove the special bolts from both sides of the steering wheel and discard them.
      8.  
      9. Remove the SRS module from the steering wheel.
        CAUTION
        Always store the SRS module face up.

      10.  
      11. Position the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.
      12.  
      13. Disconnect the horn connector and remove the steering wheel nut.
      14.  
      15. Using a steering wheel puller, press the steering wheel from the steering column.
      16.  

    4.  
    5. Remove the passenger-s side air bag by disconnecting or removing the following items:
      1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
        CAUTION
        Wait 3 minutes after disconnecting the battery cables and turning the ignition switch to the OFF position before servicing the air bag system.

      2.  
      3. Open the glove box door.
      4.  
      5. Working inside the glove box, open the lower instrument panel lid.
      6.  
      7. Remove the passenger-s air bag module connector clip from the lid.
      8.  
      9. Disconnect the passenger-s SRS module connector.
      10.  
      11. Remove the glove box and the lower passenger-s side instrument panel.
      12.  
      13. Using the Tamper Resistant Torx® Wrench size T50, remove the SRS module-to-instrument panel special bolts and discard them.
      14.  
      15. Remove the 4 SRS module-to-instrument panel mounting nuts.
      16.  
      17. Release the SRS module-to-instrument panel clips and remove the SRS module.
        CAUTION
        Always store the SRS module face up.

    7. Drain the cooling system into a clean container for reuse.
    8.  
    9. Working inside the engine compartment, disconnect the 2 heater hoses from the heater core.

      15. Remove the 4 audio and deck pocket screws; then, disconnect the electrical harness connectors and remove the audio and deck pocket.

      17. Disconnect the ASCD main switch connector.

      19. Remove the 2 meter cover screws; then, disconnect the electrical harness connectors and remove the meter cover.
      20.  
      21. Remove the 4 air conditioning-heater control screws; then, disconnect the control cables and remove the air conditioning-heater control.
      22.  
      23. Remove the front pillar garnish.
      24.  
      25. Remove the 3 instrument panel assembly nuts and 2 bolts; then, remove the instrument panel.

    23. Remove the heater housing assembly.

      21. Install the cluster cover and the 4 cluster cover screws.

      23. Install the lower instrument panel and the 2 driver-s side lower instrument panel screws.

      25. Install the steering column covers and the 4 steering column cover screws.

    7. Install the air conditioning housing assembly to the vehicle.

    9. Connect the thermal amp connector.

    13. Connect both refrigerant lines to the evaporator core.

      11. Install the passenger-s air bag module connector clip to the lid.
      12.  
      13. Inside the glove box, close the lower instrument panel lid.

      15. Close the glove box door.
