Ignition Coil

The ignition coil is located on the front of the engine, in front of the distributor.

TESTING



See Figure 1

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the ignition coil.
  4.  
  5. Using an ohmmeter, adjust it to the low range.
  6.  
  7. Attach the probes to terminals 1 and 2 ; there should be resistance of approximately 1.0 ohms. If not, replace the ignition coil.

  1. Connect the electrical harness connector to the ignition coil.
  2.  
  3. Connect the negative battery cable.
  4.  

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Unplug the electrical harness connector from the ignition coil.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the ignition coil wire.
  6.  
  7. Remove the ignition coil bolts and the coil.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Mount the ignition coil to the engine and tighten the bolts.
  2.  
  3. Plug in the harness connector, and the coil ignition wire.
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Start the engine and check for proper operation.
  8.
